Winery weddings are endless fun to plan. The beautiful vineyards as your backdrop, the unique rustic tones that come into play. And something we love, that completely ties back to a winery wedding day, is the wine barrel. There are many pros to using a wedding barrel in your decor. They’re easy to find (especially at a winery!) they’re easily styled to be rustic, romantic, and even modern. And they can do double duty as beautifully functional decor. Use them as stands for signage and rose petals, use them as cake stands, guest book tables, and cocktail tables.

We’ve pulled together plenty of wine barrel wedding decor ideas to inspire you today, all from our own real wedding features. Scroll on for the endless possibilities.

To welcome guests…

Wine barrels make a great greeting point for your guests. Use them at the beginning of pathways or the beginning of the aisle. Place signage, rose petals, confetti and fresh floral arrangements to guide guests to the right spot.

At cocktail hour…

Cocktail hour means you need spaces for decor, and spaces equally as functional for guests to rest drinks and food. This is where the wine barrel can really shine!

As reception decor…

Wine barrels have multitudes of uses for your wedding reception; keep them as stand-alone decor (flowers added of course!) Or use them for your wedding fun – they make great stands for guestbooks, drinks, and even memorial tables. You could even (as Courtney & Daniel did below) have guests sign the wine barrel as a forever guestbook.

For your wedding cake…

Our last inspiration? Use a wine barrel to hold your wedding cake. It makes a great alternative to a table (especially for a winery wedding) and holds its own kind of special charm.
