Miriam & Ivo

Cocktails in the country anyone? That is exactly the vibe you need to settle into for the story of how Miriam and Ivo tied the knot! The pair chose a country venue just outside of beautiful Daylesford and embraced the country aspect of their day. Admits Miriam “We wanted to be close to nature, in a beautiful native Australian setting.” Captured by Belle Martin Photography this is a day that with a decadent cocktail menu (thanks to the Trufflepig Catering & Events team), a sparkling wedding gown and an unexpected attendance from the couple’s four-legged friend, that really embodied that relaxed Australian spirit.

Miriam and Ivo’s paths first crossed early on, but it took a little while for this love to be. “We met through friends when we were 18 but didn’t start dating until quite a few years later. We caught up again, after not seeing each other for quite a while, when we were 23 at a friend’s birthday party and it kicked off from there. Ivo was living interstate at the time (and had been back in Melbourne for the summer) but moved back to Melbourne six months later and we became official.”

And the proposal? So quintessentially Melbourne says Miriam. “Ivo proposed on the steps of Parliament House in Melbourne, as the sun was setting. We turn went for drinks at Siglo before heading out for dinner.

Of his big day look, Ivo tells “I wore a three-piece navy suit and tie with a dark grey vest. It was a classic look tailored by P Johnson Tailors.

When it comes to vendors that were stand outs, Miriam highlights the work of hairstylist Simone Beales Hair .”Simone did an amazing job doing all of our hair and even did my niece and another friend on the day, out of pure generosity!”

Miriam donned a sparkling gown designed by Rachel Gilbert. She shares “I wanted something beautiful and elegant but not terribly “bridal”. My experience was resoundingly positive, I found my dress immediately and was a perfect fit!”

How stunning is Miriam’s bouquet? It was designed by Queen of Stems. “We had big bunches of Australian native flowers as the bouquets and the boy’s lapels were strawflowers. We also had a floral arrangement as part of our backdrop during the ceremony.”

Beautiful country venue The Burrow, was just the country venue these two dreamt of, explains Miriam. “We knew The Burrow was the venue for us as soon as we visited. It is nestled in a beautiful part of Melbourne’s countryside, and we both love the bush and the feeling you get when you are outside in nature. The Burrow make their own wine (which was delicious) and their reception area was the perfect combination of rustic and modern, with gorgeous folding doors opening straight onto views of the landscape. The ceremony and reception were both held at The Burrow – the reception in the forest and reception up in the barn.”

Miriam walked down the aisle to Otis Redding’s “These Arms of Mine” with her mum and dad.

The official part of the day was guided by Love Your Way Celebrations – Caroline Vark says the bride “We wanted our ceremony to be really personal and to include our closest friends and family. In this respect, we had two readings, delivered by three of our close friends. We gave our friends licence to write what they wanted – Ivo’s close school friend (and my uni friend) wrote a beautiful poem that he read and my two close uni friends wrote and read a rhyming poem they wrote which was hilarious. We were honestly amazed by the effort and thought they all put into their readings.”

“Our favourite part of the day was just being out in the open bushland, celebrating with family and friends.”

The newlyweds have known their wedding photographer forever, explains Miriam. “Belle is actually a high school friend of my sister and I have known her since I was about 5 years old. It was a no brainer choosing her to photograph our wedding. She took some amazing shots, was super easy to work with, very generous with her time and made the day run smoothly!

The newlyweds put together a Polaroid station for guests to make and capture their own memories, alongside bags of old fashioned sweets as wedding favours.

Guests enjoyed a cocktail style feast, including an amazing grazing table, designed and made by Trufflepig Catering & Events. Says Miriam “Their food was amazing, everyone was so impressed. They catered to everyone’s dietary requirements, were super lovely to work with.”

A big congratulations to you both Miriam and Ivo! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us. Thank you also to Belle Martin Photography for sharing today’s celebration!
