Savannah and Jay’s story begins where all good snow-season romances do: tucked into the rhythm of lift shifts, shared friends, and an apartment block that made crossing paths almost inevitable. With Tropical Romance & Co. behind the lens, their wedding blended soft pastels with classic black-and-white touches.

10 years ago, during Canada’s ski season in Banff, Savannah and Jay first crossed paths. Considering they were living in the same apartment block, had mutual friends, and both worked as lift operators, it was bound to happen. “We were inseparable from very early on in our relationship. We moved back to Savannah’s hometown on the Sunshine Coast 10 months later!”

On a beautiful, quiet morning spent at the beach, Jay asked Savannah that emotional question: Will you marry me? And with their puppy Benji as their only witness, she said yes!

Jay wore a classic MJ Bale tuxedo and bow tie, finished with Aquila Stark black dress shoes and later added a Tissot watch gifted to him by Savannah during their first look. His wedding party wore matching tuxedos from MJ Bale.

In a stunning Karen Willis Holmes Emma gown, Savannah was an ethereal beauty. She finished her look with a chantilly lace two-tier veil, Mollini Truelove white satin heels, diamond earrings gifted by her grandmother, and a diamond necklace gifted by Jay.

Her wedding party wore a variety of black dresses from Sass & Bide, Aje and Sheike to match the groomsmen.

Wanting to spend as much time as possible with their guests, Jay and Savannah had a first look and portrait session before the ceremony. “We did our first look outside the reception barn doors and exchanged gifts. It took the nerves away from walking down the aisle and was just for the two of us. We also had pre-ceremony photos with our wedding party so we could enjoy the cocktail hour with our guests,” they shared.

Of all the moments captured by the team from Tropical Romance & Co., these shots in the garden are Jay and Savannah’s favourites. “Definitely the black and white couple photos at the gardens before the ceremony!”

Osteria Weddings in New South Wales was the backdrop for this spring-toned wedding. With the relaxed vibe of a coastal town, it had everything Savannah and Jay had dreamed of. “The enclosed garden for the ceremony and cocktail hour, a large reception space for the dinner party and the courtyard whisky bar under the fairy lights were all perfect. We also loved the location on the northern NSW coastline, it was a beautiful landscape for our photos, and for guests, it was a holiday getaway with plenty of resort accommodation options!” they explained.

Working with Arctic Fox Events, Savannah and Jay chose a soft, muted pastel palette for the florals – perfect for spring and a contrast to the black-and-white styling.

Following her wedding party, Savannah walked down the aisle with her father on her arm.

They wanted the ceremony to be traditional and simple, yet still light and fun. With Leisa Ottley that vision was brought to life perfectly!

After the ceremony, the party moved to the lawn for their cocktail hour – Jay and Savannah’s favourite part of the day! “Celebrating with our guests after the ceremony, in the spring sunshine, drinking our favourite cocktails and eating incredible food!” they explained.

“The live music by Danielle Guest during the ceremony and cocktail hour was stunning and created a joyous environment.”

Savannah got savvy when planning their wedding, and DIY’d a bunch of elements to complete her vision. “She designed the reception menus and ordered many items from Etsy like the welcome sign and bow, bar menu, personalised ribbons and seating chart,” Jay shared.

When it came to their vendor dream team, Savannah and Jay couldn’t play favourites: as they loved each and every one of them! “We were so impressed with our vendors; they exceeded our expectations and fit our wedding day vibe perfectly while working together seamlessly.”

Konrad from Tropical Romance & Co. was the perfect photographer for Savannah and Jay’s spring-toned wedding, with his easygoing nature and calming presence. “He captured our wedding day beautifully and worked in with the festivities seamlessly.”

Their first dance was to Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Keep My Eyes Off You”, and was entirely choreographed by Savannah’s sister the day before the wedding! “We used the same song as her brother and sister did for their first dances, and it was obviously a last-minute decision, but it worked out perfectly,” she explained.

They also included the Tarentella as a way of honouring Savannah’s grandmother’s Italian heritage.

A huge congratulations to Savannah and Jay on this beautiful spring-toned wedding! Thanks to Tropical Romance & Co. for capturing it all.
