Set against the moody heritage backdrop of The Trust, Pat and Lucy’s winter wedding was a seamless blend of timeless elegance and personal touches. From impeccable fashion to candlelit romance and the appearance of their Corgi – Alfie, this celebration wasn’t just about aesthetics – it was about storytelling. And it all began with a chance encounter on a boat halfway around the world! Captured by the incredible Alex Motta from Motta Weddings, this is a celebration Lucy and Pat won’t soon forget.

After meeting on a Sail Croatia trip, Pat and Lucy would never have guessed that the trip would change their lives forever… but when they arrived at the same two-week Greek Island Hopper directly after, they had a feeling fate was afoot! Continuing their life-changing holiday trend, Patrick proposed in Bali during a family holiday.

Dressed to the nines, Patrick wore a P. Johnson tux, complete with a crisp white shirt and expertly tailored jacket. He finished off his look with an heirloom pin from his grandfather. “Right from the get-go, the lovely Jack from their Windsor store made the experience easy and enjoyable. The suit was beautifully made in Italy, fit perfectly, and will be something that lasts a lifetime.”

His best friend Luke was the best man and wore a matching snazzy P. Johnson tuxedo.

Lucy looked incredible in her Chosen by Kyha gown, with a gorgeous thigh split, full skirt and square neckline. She was drawn in by the description of the dress – “Maximalism for the minimalist”, saying how perfectly it summed up her dream dress. “The staff at Kyha were incredibly helpful throughout the process and I wouldn’t change a thing about my choice.”

Her veil was specially made by her mother-in-law, Patrick’s mum Rosie!

Her sister, Tia, was her Maid of Honour. Wearing a stunning Bec + Bridge dress in a silky black satin.

Some of their favourite shots from this winter wedding came from the first look and pre-ceremony shoot with their photographer! “We both loved doing a first look and photos together with our bridal party and incredible photographer – given it was winter, we needed to capitalise on the daylight, but also, it allowed us to have an intimate moment together before the big event.”

Alex Motta was the only photographer Lucy and Pat wanted for their wedding, so he was the first vendor they locked in! “Alex was amazing; he really is the GOAT! He is incredibly hard-working and captured our day perfectly. He made us both feel relaxed behind the camera and has given us memories we’ll cherish forever.”

When asked what advice they’d give other couples, Pat and Lucy said, “Do dance lessons and seriously consider a first look before the ceremony.”

For the floral brief, Pat and Lucy asked Anatomy of Flowers to stick to mostly whites, with a few pops of greenery. “I chose a simple bouquet of white reflexed roses, and we had an amazing installation of baby’s breath for our ceremony to give it a wintery feel; this was then repurposed for our reception.”

The Trust in Melbourne was the venue of choice for this winter wedding – in fact it was the first venue Pat and Lucy visited! And after all the beautiful styling by The Goodsmiths, it was the perfect space for their modern wedding. “We instantly fell in love, so we locked it in without looking elsewhere. It was everything we were looking for with a central CBD location, stunning heritage features and accommodating for both the ceremony and reception, bringing a moody winter feel.”

Lucy walked down the aisle with her dad, Craig, on her arm as the Sam Smith remix of “Latch” by Disclosure floated through the air.

Wanting a ceremony full of love and laughter, Pat and Lucy enlisted the help of their celebrant, Marry Me Tee. “We both did personalised vows and had our story told by the beautiful Tee Twiname.”

The highlight of the ceremony? The appearance of Alfie the Corgi! “Our little boy Alfie the Corgi was our ring bearer, thanks to Nicole and Ariana from Furever Lasting!”

As their live musicians, Hey Jack, serenaded guests during the cocktail hour, guests finally got a peak at the beautiful reception space styling. Including the incredible cake full of raspberries made by the talented Ladybird Cakes!

With a vendor dream full of such breathtaking talents, it was hard for Lucy and Pat to pick their standouts. But when it came down to it, Alex Motta (their photographer) and Anastasia Dimopoulos from On The Day Content (their content creator) were the stars of the show! “Especially their nonstop hard work in capturing our special day.”

The top five things that made their winter wedding so special included:

“1. Having all our nearest and dearest in one room together.

2. Having our niece Lucy-Ella walk down the aisle as our flower girl and bridal party (Tia and Luke) being by our sides and so supportive.

3. Having Alfie be a part of the big day.

4. Doing our first look together and the memories captured from this.

5. Tearing up the dance floor afterwards.”

Patrick took the lead on a lot of the planning, but one of the things they worked together on and loved the most was their dance lessons with Marissa from Hey Jack! “We have absolutely no regrets from this. It was a great experience in the lead-up to our big day.”

Speaking of their first dance, this duo picked George Ezra’s “Hold My Girl” as their song of choice. During the first dance, Alex captured some of Pat and Lucy’s favourite memories from the night. “Very hard to choose with such a talented photographer, but the one with our boy Alfie out the front of the Trust is up there, and some from our first dance.”

A huge congratulations to Pat and Lucy on creating such a heartfelt and joy-filled winter wedding! And a big thank you to the incredible Alex Motta for capturing every beautiful moment so perfectly.
