Set against the stunning backdrop of Pilu at Freshwater, Emma and Kevin’s beachside wedding was a beautiful mix of intimate moments, cherished traditions, and relaxed vibes. It was a date to remember – especially since it was the exact same date they had met! Thanks to their photographer, CJ Picture, the couple can now look back on this beautiful celebration time and time again.

Emma and Kevin met at a wedding, where neither of them could have even dreamed that they would marry on the exact same date seven years later! “I remember my friend (the bride) telling the guests how much she liked the date and that she had to book the church for that date before she was even proposed to. It must be a great date since we married on the same date seven years later!”

Kevin proposed to Emma on her birthday, a few days before she was ready to return to China for three months. “We spent the entire day together and had cake at home. I got a little emotional after cake about the prospect of leaving soon. He gave me a long hug and asked, “What did you think about today?” I replied, “It was perfect, but I wish we didn’t have to be apart for 3 months.” Then he went, “I have one more gift for you,” and pointed to the coffee table, where I saw a little red box there,” she explained. “I was surprised at that moment, which was exactly what I always wanted for the proposal – for it to be a surprise.”

Before their wedding, the couple held a Tea Ceremony for their parents, per Cantonese tradition. In this ceremony, the couple could pay their respects to their elder relatives by offering tea.

For the ceremony, Kevin wore a simple navy linen suit from Remy with a white cotton bow – perfectly matching the beachside, casual vibes of the day.

To match Kevin’s clean and laidback look, Emma wore a simple white dress with beautiful leaf-like detailing on the neckline and along her back. She paired the dress with Jimmy Choo shoes and a fingertip veil. “I went shopping with my mum and best friend and bought it at the first shop we walked into within two hours.”

Eld was their florist and stylist for the day, creating these beautiful neutral flowers for Emma’s bouquet, perfect for a beachside wedding. “I just told my florist what style I liked and sent her a few inspo photos and let her do her magic on the day!”

Before the ceremony, Kevin and Emma had their first look with their photographer, CJ Picture. “Jeff is great! He was able to make us feel relaxed and captured the moments that were most genuine and beautiful. And he tells good jokes.”

Their wedding was held at the beautiful Pilu at Freshwater, a highly-rated Sardinian restaurant by the beach with a gorgeous courtyard for their ceremony.

Emma walked down the aisle with both her parents by her side as their multilingual civil celebrant and MC Jenny Chiu waited with Kevin.

Their cavoodle Simba delivered their wedding bands down the aisle – and he was such a good boy they didn’t need to do any rehearsals!

There was no stand-out vendor for Emma and Kevin; they loved each and every one of them. “We are so grateful for all of our vendors. They were all fantastic and helped us so much before and on the day.”

The top five things that made their wedding so special were:

“1. It was intimate

2. Having our loved ones with us on the day

3. Kevin’s vows were long and memorable (surprisingly, as he normally keeps his thoughts to himself)

4. Had Simba delivered our wedding bands down the aisle to us successfully,

5. The weather was nice to us – it stopped raining during the time that we needed to be outdoors.”

The main thing Kevin wanted for their wedding was good food – another reason they loved Pilu! The top-quality food options ensured all their guests were well fed on the day.

He also researched and booked their Photo Booth from Simple Booth and their live acoustic band Yue Acoustics.

The best thing about their reception? Emma and Kevin only planned for what they wanted to do – without the pressure of what they didn’t want. “We got time to enjoy the night with our guests at the reception by keeping the wedding small and not having a lot of formalities, nor planning anything that would stress us out further like a first dance.”

We’ll finish off with their favourite photo of the night – these gorgeous evening shots outside Pilu. All the formalities were over and done; they’d spent the night surrounded by friends and family and wanted a small moment together to take it all in. “It was a great photo; we are using it as our phone wallpaper.”

Please join us in congratulating Emma and Kevin on their inviting beachside wedding. Thanks to CJ Picture for capturing and sharing these incredible images also!
