Charmaine and Xi’s wedding was a colourful, romantic affair. It was the very definition of whimsical, vibrant, and dopamine-filled. The cartoony touches throughout the day really brought a sense of whimsy, from the groomsmen’s Marvel bowties to Charmaine’s pom-pom-filled bouquet. Agnes Grace Photo + Film captured the day alongside them.
Xi and Charmaine met through mutual friends, and thank the heavens they did! Now, we get to show how their beautiful relationship blossomed into this whimsical display. Speaking of whimsy, Xi actually proposed to Charmaine in a hot air balloon—how romantic is that?!
Charmaine wore this incredible white gown with its beautiful off-the-shoulder neckline, waist detailing and statement floral. The asymmetrical sleeves perfectly match the whimsical themes of the day, while the true white allows for the colours (yet to come) to shine!
The wedding party included Helen, Dorothy and Waylu for Charmaine and Danny. Jeung and John for Xi. The bridesmaids wore simple white dresses of various styles with matching colourful corsages.
Her bouquet (which we’re still obsessing over!) was hand-made by Charmaine herself from a colourful array of pipe cleaners and pearls. Matching the decorations of her bouquet, her veil and corsage added a beautiful touch of dopamine to her final look.
Charmaine is a big Marvel fan, so each of the groomsmen wore a light blue bowtie featuring a different Marvel superhero, with Xi wearing a Superman bowtie. They also wore an array of blue and black suits, with Xi wearing a classic black suit and a cartoon-themed boutonniere.
Their ceremony took place at Lacebark Function Centre, in an outdoor English-style gazebo. With the help of Blank Spaces Events, Charmaine designed this incredible colourful display. It was exactly as she had envisioned, from the pastel curtains to the colourful balloons and floral decor. “I made colourful pom-pom flowers, vibrant bouquets, and even crafted the vow cards by hand, all to resonate with the dopamine-themed, colourful essence of the wedding,” she explained.
To begin the ceremony, Charmaine walked down the aisle with her father on her arm as bubbles and petals floated through the air. They wanted it to be a relaxed, joyful affair, so Xi and Charmaine asked their best friend to officiate. Anything overly sentimental was removed, leaving room for plenty of laughter and lighthearted love.
Agnes Grace Photo + Film was the couple’s photographer for the day and perfectly captured the whimsical, colourful essence of the wedding. “The photographer was very dedicated and captured all the details and emotions with a storytelling quality.”
The five things that made this whimsical wedding so special to Charmaine and Xi were:
“1. The wedding theme was vibrant and colourful.
2. The groomsmen wore Marvel-themed bow ties.
3. The groom’s bow tie featured Superman, as my nickname is Superman.
4. During the dance, all the guests joined in and danced together.
5. My family and I preparing all the props together.”
This beautiful cake, made by Ground Floor Cafe, perfectly matched the day’s colourful, whimsical theme. It had two tiers, a cartoony bow, and ribbons of colourful icing, and it was a magical addition to the reception space.
They skipped the first dance, but since Charmaine is a street dance teacher, she had something special planned. With her students in tow, they performed a short routine to wow guests and get them up to join in.
Congratulations, Xi and Charmaine, on your whimsical, colourful wedding! And a huge thanks to Tali From Agnes Grace Photo + Film for submitting this beautiful wedding for us to share.
