Valentine’s Day is a favourite for me because although yes, we get to celebrate love every day, there is one day of the year when red and pink and hearts and cupcakes are in abundance –  and how can the meaning of that, for telling your people you love them, be bad?

So today’s editorial? It pays a little homage to the most love-filled day of the year and it does so with whimsy, fun, and disco balls and an epic Zee Scott wedding cake. And if that doesn’t say a Valentine’s celebration we’d like to be at, what does?

The vision of Alysha of Hey Babe! Photography (who captured it all alongside cinematographer Twenty-Four 18), the team pulled together an intimate, fun-filled elopement at warehouse venue The Line. Says Alysha “The aim of undertaking this kind of styled shoot is to really emphasise all the different ways you can express your own love, relationship and individual personalities within your wedding day. Whether it’s an unusually coloured or styled wedding dress, a non-formal dinner, crazy options on your bar list, wildly coloured decor, having your pets as guests of honour and even rolling around on skates the entire day, we truly hope to inspire people to turn the wedding industry on its head and ask themselves “who makes the rules?”.”
The day begins with cocktails, but of course, Mister Bartender whipped up colourful conditions, that somehow seem to match the bright and beautiful floral details featured throughout the day by Wild Blooms Floristry.

Styling from Soiree Sisters Studio, Weddings by E and Good Day Club guiding our couple from drinks to do’s, rollerskates included, to a sitdown reception for two. And the fun touches? Apart from the cocktails, aplenty, a fave four-legged friend (Alysha’s own Louie) complete with floral collar reigned in by The Wedding Sitter,  a joy-filled ceremony (and polka dot dress!) conducted by Marry Us Mich, (assisted by ‘Til Jess Do Us Part) a Penny Lane Photobooth, and aside from Zee’s incredible tiered cake? Right on theme cookies by Minx Cookie Co.

Our models, Amanduh and Samuel K Smith made the most of the frivolity fo the day, Amanduh dressed in not one, but three beautiful custom pieces from Olivia Waters Couture (that eighties lavender frock? we want!) pairing beautifully with Megan Gerlach styled makeup and custom wedding-worthy sunnies by Shine Shades.

Says Alysha “I’ve always been into all things rebel & retro. I’ve always been an “ideas man” and creative and when those juices get flowing no one can stop me! When coming up with this shoot I really wanted to bring together and highlight all the fun elements of both my personality and the wedding industry and really make them explode! From flashy disco balls, bright coloured florals, super fun and exciting cocktails, killer rollerskates and of course (the real star of the show) my furbaby Louie! ”
