We are all about the stripes, the florals and the dots this month, and patterned table linen is one of the quickest ways to make a reception feel like yours, a world away from the standard white linen that is everywhere all the time. But where can you find beautiful patterned linen? Who are the hire specialists who can help you bring the look to life? We did the digging for you!
For florals, gingham and prints
Table Art has the widest run of florals and gingham on this list. There are three Hamptons florals in pink, sage and blue, gingham in red, sage, blue and black and white, plus a Candy Stripe, an Oriental Stripe and a Christmas Stripe if you’re marrying in December. Send them your Pinterest photos and a floorplan and they’ll work out the fabric sizes for you. They started in Melbourne in 2006 and added a Sunshine Coast warehouse in 2023, and they hire for Queensland and Victorian weddings.
Simmons Linen Hire has been going for 25 years and has dressed tables for Vogue Brides and Better Homes and Gardens. Their check and stripe range runs from red and white gingham to a red and green tartan, and a yellow check with a blue stripe through it. Vintage cotton damask comes in dusty pink, hot pink, purple, eucalyptus and white, and the prints go as far as a gold, Versace-style pattern on red. Showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart, and they ship Australia-wide and to New Zealand.
House of Harvey hires crockery, furniture and décor as well as linen, so you can source the whole table in one place. Mimi is a floral in pink, red and white, cut extra large at 2.8m by 6.6m for a long table. Paloma is a round linen print by Brisbane designer The Fabric Broker, made for their folding circular tables. For the bar, the Candy Stripe cloths come in teal and pink, and they suggest two per dry bar for full coverage.
Bennelong Event Hire in Sydney has the most decorative pieces here. Their toile comes in yellow and coral versions of the same floral, and there’s a blue and white block print too. The rest of the range is mostly solid colour, so this is the place to look for one statement cloth, and there are sequin cloths if you want some sparkle.
Rendr, designed in Melbourne, is the one for delicate florals. The Zoe Floral collection has fine, intricate motifs, and there are plain green and blue floral tablecloths as well. The linen is European flax, OEKO-TEX certified and prewashed to reduce shrinkage.
Found Collective is the South Australian option, based in Adelaide. It has a blue and a green floral printed linen round cloth and a natural striped round cloth. Pickup is free from Seacliff, or they can arrange delivery.
SW Event Studio hires across the Margaret River region in WA. Their new toile line is a French countryside botanical print in soft green, in 3.3m rounds or 2.3m by 4m rectangles sized to their banquet and cocktail tables.
Vida in Warrnambool, on Victoria’s south west coast, is the one to look at on a tighter budget, at $15 a tablecloth. There’s Pink Gingham, Cream with Gold Dots, a Strawberry Print and a Black and Gold Bee motif. The cloths are sized to trestle tables and cleaned and pressed before hire, so they suit a high tea or a garden party.
For stripes
Hiire is a trade-only platform, so ask your wedding planner, venue or stylist to source it for you. Once they do, there’s plenty to choose from: plain stripes, sailor stripe, cherry stripe and an ombre denim that shifts colour across the cloth. The cotton range, Floral Garden and Baby’s Breath, is softer and leans English garden.
Love Stoned is a small Sydney styling studio run by Rychelle, with antique pieces mixed in with modern décor. Her pin-striped round cloth and yellow striped bar cloth are custom-made by her. It’s Sydney only, with pickup or delivery within about 90 minutes of Jannali.
Friday Hire in Geelong and Torquay has rust and bluestone pinstripes, plus gingham napkins in oatmeal, olive and a mustard-toned wattle. They’ve just partnered with ELL Events, so linen and furniture arrive in one delivery.
Simply Style Co, a full-service Sunshine Coast stylist, has one delicious linen stripe, an Oatmeal Stripe tablecloth.
For a little pattern at each place setting
Simply Seated has a hand-printed cotton napkin collection, six block-print designs named after Indian cities: Pushkar, Udaipur, Kolkata, Goa, Jaipur and Bangalore. There’s a striped range in French, charcoal, flax and soft pink as well. Showrooms in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, and they ship to every state and New Zealand.
Harry the Hirer is one of the country’s biggest event hire companies, with showrooms in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Their Bistro Stripe napkin comes in clay, wheat, sky blue and ink black, with a Bistro Heritage napkin to match. It’s handy if you’re already hiring furniture from them.
Main Event Weddings works mostly in solid neutrals, and their pansy floral napkin and bespoke hand-drawn illustrated tabletop pieces are what set them apart.
