After a love story spanning ten years, a three-year engagement and two years of postponement, Alex and Kendall were well and truly ready to tie the knot. The pair waited until they were able to celebrate with all of their favourite people and have absolutely no regrets, “it was worth it for us to wait until no covid restrictions to celebrate the way we wanted to. We were so happy to finally be able to celebrate and cement our love and future in this way. Every part of the day was perfect and we really couldn’t have wished for anything better.”

And from Alex’s amazing gown to the killer views of the Blue Mountain setting, Across the Forest made the most of it all. A long overdue celebration that was brought to life in a beautiful combination of elegance, modern details and overwhelming joy.

These two weren’t quite high school sweethearts, but they did first meet while they were both in their last years of high school. “We attended the same school for years 7-12, but barely spoke to each other in that time” explains Alex. “It wasn’t until a mutual friend’s party in the first year after high school, that we started talking and hit it off from there. A sneaky kiss on the dance floor of the pub that night really sealed the deal for something special to start. After that night we continued to see each other whenever possible – Kendall was living in Newcastle and Alex in Sydney, so many weekends were spent visiting the other until Kendall eventually moved to Sydney after five years of travelling between the two cities.”

Kendall chose their seventh year to ask Alex to marry him. “It was at sunrise on the top of the sand dune in Alex’s hometown of Forster. Kendall had asked Alex months earlier where her favourite spot in Australia was, without alluding to the proposal, and planned to do it at that exact spot. Everything was perfect – the location, the ring and the words he said!”

Says Alex of Kendall’s attire “Kendall wanted to keep his attire very classic, so chose a black tuxedo from MJ Bale. He also wore RM Williams black boots.”

Alex’s absolute dream of a gown was by designer Rime Arodaky. “As soon as I saw images online I knew that it was the dress I needed to have. I was searching for something a little different and the sleeves and dotted tulle was just perfect for me. I especially loved the way the sleeves flared at the wrists. I paired this with Tony Bianco heels and earrings from Amelie George.”

The couple chose the one venue for their wedding, the beautiful Seclusions. Explains Alex “We fell in love with the venue as soon as we first visited. We really wanted to be able to spend the whole day and evening at one venue and not have to worry about moving guests around. Seclusions is so perfect with the different areas they have for getting ready, the ceremony, cocktail hour, the reception and dancing! We knew that we wouldn’t need to go off-site for photos with how incredible the location and backdrop are.
We also can’t speak highly enough of the owners Russell and Malynda. They were so helpful in the lead-up, as well as keeping everything on track on the wedding day.”

“I loved walking down the aisle and seeing Kendall’s teary face” remembers Alex. “My Mother Karen walked first with my niece Darcy as the ring-bearer, followed by bridesmaids and then my Father Ken walked with me down the aisle.”

“We wanted it to feel fun, natural, personal and nothing too traditional” tells Alex of the ceremony. “I managed to say my name wrong in my vows… instead of saying ‘I Alex’, I skipped my first name and went straight to my middle name. It was a really funny moment, that gave everyone a break from the emotional part of the ceremony.”

Alex’s very favourite photo? “I think the one of us walking back up the aisle after the ceremony, with confetti flying in the air. We both have huge smiles from ear to ear and I think you can really see the happiness radiating from us both.”

The pair chose photographer Across The Forest to document their day. “Across the Forest were so amazing!! Their photos are absolutely incredible. They captured the feel and energy of the day, as well as how we are as a couple. They were so fun and easy to deal with and really made us feel comfortable in front of the camera.  We love them and all of the beautiful photos they have given us!”

“We had to do DIY styling at the venue. All of the florals were arranged, but the day before was spent setting the tables in the reception area, stocking the bar and adding personal touches around the venue – not much was needed to make it look incredible!

I wanted to keep it quite simple and classic. Our flowers were mainly white roses, babies breath and white orchids. I had toffee roses in my bouquet and as the boy’s button-holes, as a point of difference. I particularly loved the suspended babies’ breath hanging above the tables in the reception area.”

“Don’t sweat the small stuff. You will have an incredible day with the people you love, so don’t let the little things worry you in the lead-up. Nobody notices the minor details – even you won’t because you’ll be having too much fun!”

The couple chose “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers for their first dance. “We did Lovely Day by Bill Withers. From the first dance, we hardly stepped away from the dance floor until the end of the night! It was so fun to be able to celebrate in this way with all of our family and friends.”

The biggest congratulations to you both Alex and Kendall! thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding stories with us and thank you to Across the Forest for the utterly beautiful images.
