The brief for Jacob and Dan’s wedding? “Party!” The couple planned their perfect day together, with a focus on doing things their way. They tied the knot in a short and sweet ceremony at the gorgeous Glasshaus Inside and celebrated with their friends and family straight after. There to capture all the love was the talented Kate Enno. Below, Jacob and Dan share their story and the details of their wedding day.

We met when two of our closest friends started seeing each other – Jacob noticed Dan on social media and took matters into his own hands and reached out to Dan in a message. An immediate bond was formed, dates and drinks were had and the rest is history.

The best way to describe our wedding day is “less wedding, more party” – it was a short informal ceremony followed by a long and relaxed soiree. We chose not to have a formal wedding party as we wanted our closest friends and family to be able to relax and enjoy the evening.

The wedding was on November 16 at Glasshaus Inside in Cremorne. We chose to use Glasshaus Inside for both the ceremony and the “party”. It is a gorgeous Industrial warehouse in the back streets of Cremorne, full of lush greenery and industrial fixtures and fittings. It suited us perfectly.

We chose a cover of ‘I Will Follow You’ sung by Ricky Nelson to walk down the aisle.

We chose to wear matching Jack London suits slightly tweaked to suit our individual styles. Dan wore a black necktie, with cuffed trousers and black suede loafers, and Jacob wore a black bowtie with leather brogues – both were tied together with matching boutonnieres.

We kept the ceremony fairly short and informal. We used a friend of Jacob’s – Melissa Fahey from Mine Forever Celebrant Services. Her personal touch was second to none and we received so much praise from our guests as to how much they loved the way she delivered her words. Mel added a beautiful piece in which she read out our five favourite things about each other – the whole thing felt so personalised exactly to us and Mel even shed a tear, she was feeling the love so much!

Our photographer, Kate from Kate Enno Photography, is a very close friend of ours – we have always admired and loved her craft, and we knew that we wanted her to capture some stills from the day and she did an absolutely amazing job – thank you again Kate, you are truly gifted!

It was just amazing to have everyone together celebrating with us – there was so much love in the room it was overwhelming.

For our first dance at the party, we toyed with the idea of getting a dance choreographed to ‘Crocodile Rock’ by Elton John, however, we decided to keep things a little more chill and just have a boogie with everyone else.

With some help from Mel from the The M Project, we actually DIY’d most of the wedding, from choosing furniture to hire, designing the floorplan, playlists, food etc. It was quite stressful in the lead-up, but we wouldn’t change any of it. It meant that the evening was exactly as we wanted it to be – a party!

We also had kick on drinks after the venue closed at an awesome speakeasy-style bar called The Blacksmith Bar in Richmond. It’s in an old Ironmongers building and the façade and décor are beautifully thought out. The team here were so hospitable for an after party when we really had no idea how many would continue on with us. It was the perfect spot to close out the night!

Our advice? Make sure you plan the day for what YOU want as a couple, and not for what others might want!

Ms Floral Says: Congratulations Jacob and Dan on the day of your dreams and, of course, your marriage! Love that you kept things simple. The result was so beautiful.
