You know that warm, fuzzy feeling? The one that you get when you’re on a date with your partner? That feeling that started in those early stages of dating? There are cities across the globe known for inspiring couples to fall in love that are the classic setting for a true love story. Being the hopeless romantics we are, we couldn’t pass up the chance to explore (virtually, of course) some of these beautiful cities and the activities you could do on your honeymoon. And fingers crossed it’s not too long before we can physically walk these cobblestone and magical streets once again.
We couldn’t do a romantic city post without including Rome. The Italian word for Rome is ‘Roma’ and Roma in reverse is amor, the Italian word for love. You’ll find so much to do in this city, whether it be eating pizza until your hearts content, tossing coins into the Trevi Fountain or strolling the Villa Borghese gardens.
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Monte Carlo is love mixed with a little luxury. Celebrated as one of the world’s most romantic cities and frequented by the rich and famous, Monaco is perfect for a little bit of fancy on your honeymoon. Enjoy Monaco from above in a scenic helicopter ride, admire the sunset whilst fine dining at Elsa Restaurant or explore the city on an e-bike.
Often overlooked by the larger cities in Spain, Cordoba offers an authentic Spanish experience without the crowds. During May of each year, the ‘Fiesta de los Patios’ is celebrated where local home owners open their patios as part of a contest and tourists get a glimpse into the beautiful gardens. Other activities you could take part in include a visit to the famous Mezquita and the Moorish Alcazar de los Reyes Gardens.
What’s more romantic than eating your favourite gelato, visiting little stores and taking a sunset walk along the famous Ponte Vecchio? Florence is a beautifully romantic city with astounding architecture, art and character waiting to be explored. Take part in a traditional cooking class or stretch your legs and climb the 463 steps of the Duomo.
Santorini is one of the most romantic islands in the world. The aqua blue ocean, warm afternoons and coloured white buildings are enough to give you travel envy. Take a dip at the beautiful Red Beach, pick up some souvenirs in Fira or mud bath by the volcano.
