Krystal & John
Join us in falling in love with this dreamy romantic Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens wedding! Featuring a garden ceremony, lush rose bouquets and a cute puppy, our bride and groom have created a beautiful day! Immerse Photography captured every moment.
Krystal and John met at 18 through a mutual friend. The bride shares, ”Seven years later we began dating, so it wasn’t love at first sight but it was definitely meant to be, as we kept finding our way back to each other.” John planned a holiday for the proposal, under the guise of a birthday present for Krystal. She tells, ”John had booked a trip to Fiji over the Christmas period. On the first night he had organised a romantic dinner on the beach. I saw a table set up on the beach with candles, it was beautiful and with the sunset it was perfect. I thought he organised it because the trip was for my birthday! While sitting at the table John pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him. I was completely taken by surprise and began to tear up with excitement and said YES.”
Taking her maid of honour with her, Krystal found her dream dress at Mariana Hardwick. She shares, ‘It was actually the second dress I tried on. I had not envisioned the style of dress I would wear however when I tried this on I absolutely loved it and took my mum and another bridesmaid back to see it and did not look at any others, I knew it was the one. There were times in the lead up to the wedding that I did think I should of tried on others to be sure but I am glad I went with my gut instinct as it was perfect. Ronaldo (the puppy) spent the morning with me – he had his little tux on and was a part of the wedding photos and video.” Wanting to avoid wearing all black, the groom chose an ivory jacket with black trousers and a bow tie. Prinzi Collections matched the groom’s jacket to Krystal’s gown.
Wanting the day to be full of special moments, the bride and groom both wrote cards to one another to be read on the morning of the wedding. The bride recalls, ”This was extremely special and was lovely to read how we were both feeling.” The ceremony was held at Nymphaea Lake West, Royal Botanic Gardens, the bride walking down the aisle with her mum to ‘1000 Years’, sung by Isaac Main. Sharing of their ceremony, Krystal tells, ”We wanted it to be filled with love and again to reflect us as individuals and as a couple. We had two of our close friends read at our ceremony. One of our friends read a story about us and our second friend read a poem. Having our friends read and be a part of our ceremony meant a great deal to us.”
Choosing to surround themselves with their nearest and dearest, the bride and groom included those that they love in their romantic wedding celebrations! The bride shares, ”Our bridal party was made up of our friends. I did not want a big bridal party and John wanted to have his 5 closest friends so we went with uneven numbers which was different. I love how this was shown in the photos.” The bridesmaids wore long gowns from Shona Joy, carrying bouquets filled with mixed garden roses.
Perfect weather on the day allowed the newlyweds to have their photos taken in the gorgeous Nymphaea Lake West, Royal Botanic Gardens, including in the greenhouse. With romance being a theme and neutral tones being used throughout the day, the blooms tied in beautifully. Krystal tells, ”The flowers we chose were made up of white, pastel and light pink colours and touches of greenery. Allie at Classic Bouquets really helped me with choosing the types of flowers. I showed her photos and told her the colours I liked and she did the rest.”
Melbourne put on a show for Krystal and John’s garden wedding, and Immerse Photography captured the day magnificently! The bride says, ”Where do I begin?! Immerse Photography were my favourite supplier to work with. From the initial meeting to deciding on the locations for the photos I just loved dealing with them as everything was an easy process. As soon as Genelle got to my house in the morning she took control and I felt at ease. The boys loved having Paul shoot their morning. They captured us just being natural and that came through in the photos. Our wedding album is stunning and the customer service they showed us was exceptional.”
Krystal and John fell in love immediately with Quat Quatta, saying, ”As soon as we walked in we knew it was the perfect place!” With fresh flowers on the tables and seating sign, roses also decorated the delicious two tier cake from Miss Ladybird Cakes. The bride shares, ”We wanted our guests to get a sense of our personalities throughout the day. We had a friend design us a logo which we used on our invites, bottles of water and seating chart. The theme of our wedding was classical romance and with all things France, I felt using neutral pale colours gave that impression. I wanted the atmosphere to feel intimate, warm and welcoming which is why we fell in love with Quat Quatta. Photos of Ronaldo were also displayed at our reception. It was little personal touches which we wanted.”
After serving canapes and drinks outside, the wedding party moved indoors to hear Isaac Main sing ‘Tenerife’ by Ed Sheeran for the couple’s first dance. The bride shares, ”My mum previously taught dancing, however we only asked her to teach us a few days prior to the wedding. We used a couple of the dance moves she taught us however just did our own thing on the night.”
