Karin & Daniel
If you are a couple that dreams of a no-fuss wedding, then take a leaf out of Karin and Daniel’s book- because it’s a good one! These two chose a relaxed fiesta beachside wedding to celebrate their union in front of their nearest and dearest. Photographed by Jennifer Burch Photography, the pair wanted their day to be relaxed, by the sea, and with a hit of Mexican love. Karin noting “Our day was filled with sunshine, best friends, tacos, dancing and of course marrying the love of my life!”
Karin tells the tale of how they came to be. “We first met at a hostel in Edinburgh, Scotland on New Year’s Eve 2008. After a week of partying, we went our separate ways to go travelling. 10 months later we accidentally bumped into each other back in Edinburgh, without knowing the other person would be there. We kept in touch and met again in early 2011 when I (Karin) was in Australia to study English, which is when we started dating.” The groom proposed on a surprise trip to Paris.
The couple met before the ceremony for a first look, noting of their photographer “Jen was amazing from beginning to end. Couldn’t have wished for a better photographer. She listened to what we wanted/did not want to do in terms of corny poses and was really easy going and relaxed. We are so happy with our beautiful photos!”
The bride chose a gown from Spell Designs Byron Bay, noting “I wanted something beachy and relaxed and found the perfect dress online!”
Of their walk down the aisle, the bride remembers “We walked down together, which is a Swedish tradition. Our friend Stephanie Broadbridge sung ‘First Day of My Life’ by Bright Eyes on her ukulele.”
Of their ceremony, which was officiated by Lianna Koller-Redfern the bride remembers “Our ceremony was short, sweet and relaxed. No readings or poems, no long vows. It was a hot day on the beach so our guests were also relieved that it didn’t drag on for too long!”
Karin and Daniel chose Pacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club for their wedding, marrying on the beach right by the venue.
Justine Rose created the beautiful floral details of the day, tells Karin. “Our friend Justine Rose Ford, who is a florist, did all the flowers. I wanted something white and green, quite a loose and relaxed bouquet and she nailed it!”
“The whole day was so special so it’s impossible to pick one favourite moment. We did love the photos on the beach with our unofficial bridal party of friends”.
El Poco Loco Food Truck served up a Mexican inspired feast all night long.
Flying in from Sweden, the bride’s family is not fluent in English, so in lieu of a speech, the guests gathered for a shot of Peach Schnapps to honour her father. Karin noting “A Swedish snaps song and traditional akvavit/alcohol is a must! Also, we served hot dogs at 11 pm when people were drunk and hungry from dancing all night (Swedish wedding tradition).”
The newlyweds chose Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” for their first dance. Honey & Stone Music performing the song live.
Congratulations on your marriage Karin & Daniel! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Jennifer Burch Photography for sharing today’s celebration with us!
