Aliza & Hasib

We love to celebrate love here at Polka Dot Bride and, when we get beautiful photographs – like today’s that celebrate love – then it’s the kind of thing we love sharing with you!

Aliza and Hasib hired photographer Lana Ivanova to commemorate their one year anniversary; the couple wanting a look that was completely different to their wedding day, with photos that evoked a romantic, dreamy style. Aliza added a touch of her heritage with an incredible beaded sari.

But, as always, let us start at the beginning, Aliza kicking us off with the tale of how these two came to be. “My best friend, Saira used to work with Hasib and organised a catch up at an ice cream store in the city. Both us girls got ice cream and Hasib got a bottle of water (who gets water at an ice cream store?!) Although we both thought each other snobby at the beginning we hit it off soon after. He’s a massive cricket fan so I impressed him by following the world cup that was happening around the same time.”

On what she loves about her husband, Aliza notes, “He’s a really easy going guy. Incredibly patient and full of life and love. I’m really lucky to have him.”

The proposal was an incredibly special occasion planned months in advance tells Aliza. “Hasib spent months planning the engagement. He organised it with my friends. Basically, he asked Saira to organise a high tea catch up, for me and her – this ensured that I was dressed up for the day.

On the day, I was running late and ran to my car where Hasib caught me by complete surprise (I actually screamed and a passing car stopped to ask if I was ok!) He then put a blindfold on me, which was a pair of sunglasses with the glass blackened out so my makeup wouldn’t get ruined, and we got in his car. We drove for quite some time and finally arrived at the destination, which was a cliff which overlooked this incredible view of the Blue Mountains. He had written a sweet letter and at the end of me reading it, he got on one knee and proposed. Then we celebrated with our close friends on Clarke Island.”

Hasib tells of his wife, “Aliza is so loving and caring. I can tell how much she cares for me by everything she does for me and our relationship. She is truly beautiful human being inside and out.”
