Candice & Alex

I swear I am a sucker for beautifully romantic stories. Writing about weddings all day every day never fails to make even the greyest day into something full of hope and joy.

A day of hope and joy is exactly how Candice and Alex celebrated their beautiful classic romantic wedding at Aravina Estate. With beautiful blooms in shades of blush and marsala, classically styled elements and romantic photography by Black Bird Tale it all came together to create a stunningly beautiful celebration.

The couple met in the air! Candice explains “We met on a flight from Perth to Melbourne. Candice was working and Alex was a passenger. Alex proposed on Cable Beach in Broome on one of our many camping trips away.”

The bride chose a stunning lace gown from Tuscany Bridal, noting “I left everything quite late so by the time I went to try on dresses I knew I would be limited in what I could choose due to time. I had no idea what I wanted but went with my Mum and after trying on only about five dresses found the one I loved. The experience was so easy and fun and I was lucky the dress arrived a couple of weeks before the wedding. My dress was ivory lace with a latte underlay to show off the pattern. It was really comfortable and I love it!”

Candice reminisces  “I loved getting to spend so much time with my girlfriends. They are all mums and don’t get me wrong I love their kids but I got to steal them away for a couple of girls’ weekends, one in Busselton to do some ‘planning’ and also one in Perth for my Hens – it was awesome!”

Candice tells “My Dad walked me down the aisle. We had live music so Chris Murphy  played acoustic guitar for the ceremony.”

Candice and Alex chose the beautiful Aravina Estate for their wedding, telling “We love the venue! It’s so beautiful and has everything you need in the one spot.”

Kate Jowett performed the ceremony, the bride remarking “Our celebrant Kate Jowett was fantastic, she made the ceremony very personal and fun. We had a pretty short ceremony and didn’t have any readings but we did seal a love letter and a bottle of wine into a box to be opened in five years.”

Bespoke Wedding Flowers created the beautiful blush and marsala toned bouquets. Candice remembering “Our florist Tracey Finney was amazing and I cannot thank her enough. I pretty much told her I prefer to have bouquets that were a little looser rather than too tight and I figured she is the professional so I left the rest up to her! I showed her a photo of my dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses/groomsmen suits and she created everything including all of our centrepieces/decorations and set everything up for us. She really did an amazing job and made that whole side of things so easy.”

The bride added a special heirloom detail to her bouquet, explaining “I wrapped my bouquet in an old handkerchief that was passed down from Alex’s Nan as the ‘Wedding Hankie’.”

“There were so many!!” remarks Candice, of the couple’s favourite wedding photos. “We do love the one where our bridal party are covering us in petals.”

Of their photographer, the bride recounts “We loved our photographers. Maz Pederson did most of our photos along with help from Rae. They got some great shots, as we aren’t really ‘posing’ type of people we loved how we have so many natural fun shots of the day while still having some traditional ones. Maz really made the whole photoshoot time so much fun giving us games to play and things to do so no one got bored. We also had a video from ‘The Wedding Tape’ which we absolutely love, the guys were like secret ninjas, you really had no idea they were around but we have an awesome video that sums up our day perfectly and we are so glad we got this.”

“Honestly we were so lucky, we had the best of the best and loved all of our vendors. Together they made the whole thing so easy and enjoyable,” tells Candice.

Of their first dance, Candice remembers “We had Chris Murphy for our reception but by this stage he had a whole band, we danced to ‘Have I told you lately that I love you’. We only chose this song the day before the wedding.”

Congratulations on your marriage Candice and Alex! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Black Bird Tale for sharing today’s celebration!
