Western Australians – are you wanting to marry in a winery in Margaret River? The Swan Valley? The South, South West? Oh, the wineries in the western state are a sight to behold. For The Winery Issue, we want to get your winery wedding started, and if you dream of a WA wedding then today’s roundup is the place to be.

Our list? Nowhere near exhaustive, we acknowledge there are plenty of beauties we’ve left off, if only due to the sheer size of how long this list would be.  Consider this your start, your first step into finding the dream venue you’re looking for. Let’s get into it!

Mandoon Estate, Caversham 

Everything on the one site from ceremony to reception to accommodation – now that’s handy! With a menu created by an internationally renowned chef along with award-winning wines and boutique beers, your guests can eat, drink and be merry before adjourning to one of 32 suites overlooking the Swan River and the vines in The Colony, for the night. Cullen Wines, Wilyabrup

A biodynamic and carbon-positive winery situated at Wilyabrup, Margaret River. Setting up tables on the lawn for your reception under the stars or booking the restaurant for a cosy dinner gives you the flexibility to choose your celebration.

Small Water Estate, Newlands

Located 40 minutes from Bunbury this venue can organise your whole day with wedding packages that can be put together for you, saving you the stress of finding individual vendors for your day. The team here will manage everything for you – right down to the payment of your wedding vendors – just prepare to enjoy your day with no fuss.

Hay Shed Hill Winery, Wilyabrup

Located in the Wilyabrup Valley, Margaret River, weddings are held at their restaurant Rustico, with Mediterranean-style fare shared plates including their award-winning tapas. Catering for 20 -200 guests this venue has an all-weather ceremony location, vines on the doorstep of the industrial-style building, and a magical fairy-lit tree! See it in our features here.

Nikola Estate,  Swan Valley 

Dotted with jacaranda trees and of course vineyards, this Estate is the second oldest vineyard in Australia and is set to host your wedding day in style. The Secret Garden or the homestead gardens are lovely places for your ceremony.

Credaro, Yallingup

Based near Yallingup, this Tuscan-style Cellar Door is surrounded by vineyards stretching into the Wildwood Valley. Marquees set up on the lawns or the Cellar Door with the adjoining balcony are perfect options for your reception.

Darlington Estate Winery, Darlington

A wedding venue with the rustic vintage charm of recycled jarrah beams and recycled brick flooring with large windows overlooking the 40 acres of vineyards. Why not consider a winter wedding here – with your guests cosy in the heated restaurant with fairy lights creating a magical atmosphere. Voyager Estate, Margaret River 

In Margaret River, this estate winery offers a ceremony venue amongst large gum trees overlooking the organically farmed vines. With only a limited number of weddings hosted here per year, the Classic Cape Dutch Cellar Door houses the restaurant catering to up to 80 guests. With lush gardens and rolling lawns as a photography backdrop, you’ll be able to celebrate your day in style with world-class wines and warm hospitality.

Xanadu,  Margaret River

Just 5 km from the heart of Margaret River this stunning winery is just the place for a perfect wedding – winter or summer. A ceremony in the garden, followed by a reception feast in one of several venues available. From the restaurant with its high ceilings and rustic stone fireplace opening up to the garden and beyond, to dining under the stars for up to groups of 100 in a gorgeous courtyard strewn with twinkling lights. Perhaps you have a smaller group – the Lagan Room which is lined with barrels and seats up to 30 might suit you. Catering for small and large events up to 180 sit down. Amelia Park,  Wilyabrup

A wedding amongst the vines in opulent modern style with French-influenced Western Australian cuisine, and of course served with excellent wines, makes this venue, adjacent to Amelia Park Wines, one to consider in this beautiful region. Seating up to 120 guests or even down to 20 guests in a private dining room gives you the flexibility for an elopement celebration or a larger wedding with all your nearest and dearest.

Wills Domain, Margaret River

Sittella Winery, Herne Hill

Catering for a maximum of 110 guests, the experienced staff at this venue can tailor-make solutions for your event. In the Swan Valley wine-growing region, this venue is all about the Mediterranean vibe with earth-rendered buildings with views over the vineyards.

Rivendell Winery Estate, Yallingup Siding 

Teaming up with Yallingup Event Hire, this winery offers elopement packages for up to 15 people for the ceremony and 8 people for dinner at Cockatoo Lodge or packages for larger weddings which include access to use the gardens and reception site of your choice with tents and furniture. External catering is recommended so you choose your catering company and Rivendell Winery will liaise with them for your day.

RiverBank Estate, Caversham 

Another Swan Valley location with a wedding venue and dedicated wedding coordinator to assist you. The lawn area may be utilised for your ceremony with sweeping views of the vineyards or can be used to set up a marquee. The main building is available too and the chef creates a menu from seasonal and organic produce along with RiverBank Estate wines. See it in action in our features here.

Leeuwin Estate, Margaret River 

Overlooking expansive lawn and karri forest, this venue caters for a maximum of 150 guests. There is an outdoor verandah covered with a rainproof glass ceiling draped in wisteria adjoining an indoor dining area, or you might opt for the Leeuwin art gallery with the artworks of the Leeuwin Art Series wine labels adorning the walls seating up to 180 guests.

Happs, Margaret River 

Set amongst native bushland and in rolling gardens, this venue offers plenty of photo opportunities. Whether you opt to have just your ceremony here or have your full day here, this venue can cater for up to 30 guests (bringing in your catering). And it’s dog friendly so your furry friend need not miss out.

Aravina Estate, Yallingup 

A ceremony in the purpose-built ceremony garden complete with timber arbour and lake views, and a dedicated wedding coordinator, views of rolling vineyards and forest and a vintage hydrangea garden are just a few of the attractions here for your wedding day. Award-winning wine served with your meal or their boutique craft beer and cocktail selection add to the festive occasion. Silkwood Estate, Pemberton 

Located in the Southern Forests region of WA, this venue can cater to 100 seated guests, with gatherings able to be held throughout their cellar door and restaurant. The event team create your special day and chefs will tailor your menu to showcase the region’s finest food and to your requirements. Manicured gardens and a sparkling lake offer ceremony and photo opportunities.

Peel Estate, Karnup 

With proximity to the Indian Ocean, this winery offers outside weddings in the country surrounding of the vineyard near Karnup. Bring in your caterers, and food trucks, hire companies and decorators to make the day just as you dreamed it would be. Make it as formal or casual as you wish – perhaps a picnic wedding under the shade of the Tuart trees would be a perfect celebration. Disabled parking and amenities as well as baby change facilities are welcome additions.

Domain Naturaliste, Wilyabrup 

Only a few steps from the venue is your ceremony site with views over the vines, and large trees casting shadows across rolling lawns. Further on between two Chardonnay blocks is a more secluded and shaded site accessible by foot or car. For the reception, you may work with their preferred suppliers and dine outside in a marquee amongst the vines.

Sandalford Wines, Caversham

Rolling green lawns and park-like gardens are a feature of the winery. They offer lawn areas and also the newly created White House surrounds for your ceremony and there are several rooms to choose from for your reception. The Sandalera Room is lined with barrels filled with ageing port, and the rustic Oak Room is inviting, while the Estate Room has views over the vineyards. See it on Polka Dot Wedding here.
