Felicity & Jake

When it came to Felicity and Jake’s wedding, the pair decided they wanted a day that was “simple, intimate and elegant” and with choosing the beautiful winery region of Margaret River as their setting, their elegant winery wedding at Wills Domain was no fuss and all beauty, allowing everyone to focus on celebrating the story and the romance of the newlyweds. It was all captured beautifully by  Freedom Garvey-Warr.

Felicity and Jake met while Felicity was working, Jake instantly smitten. “We met 10 years ago in the South West town of Dunsborough. I was working as a waitress at the time and Jake would come in to see me. We were then officially introduced to each other at a friend’s BBQ and the rest is history.”

Pressed invitations crafted by The Little Press invited guests to the celebration, tells Felicity “Little Press supplied the invites which were all hand designed and made. The invites included a hand drawn map showing the location for the wedding and a few key land marks. We felt that the invite would set the tone for the wedding so we wanted something personal and hand made.”

The bride chose a lace off the shoulder gown by  Rue de Seine from Through The White Door, remarking “My gown was understated but unique with beautiful intricate lace details and a touch of boho. After spending months of searching and even travelling over to the Eastern States, I chose a gown from a beautiful local boutique called Through the White Door in Fremantle. The dress designer is Rue De Seine a New Zealand label. As soon as I saw the dress I knew it was the one. I wanted something elegant and timeless but not traditional, something that would fit the relaxed setting of our wedding day.” She adds “Finding the perfect dress does come with its own pressure, not only do you have a time frame for dress making but there are hundreds of different styles and so many incredible designers to choose from. Not having a style or design in mind I wanted to try to find something unique and individual so ended up visiting the smaller boutiques that stocked the lesser known designers.”

Of their photographer, Felicity remarks “We chose Freedom Garvey to capture our day. She had previously shot Jarrad and Camille’s (our good friends and bridal party members) wedding five years before.
Freedom’s skill is incredible, we love the way she captures the emotion and all those small little candid moments that you might have otherwise missed. She was an amazing person to have with us on our day; professional, creative, organised and just an amazing person. It’s easy to see why she is so popular.”

Lush bouquets of white and dusky pink blooms were styled by Mable & Grace.  Felicity noting “We chose Mable and Grace, a small local Dunsborough florist, a team of two girls that came recommended through a friend. I sent the girls some inspiration images I had found on Instagram and Pinterest. We worked together to decide on flowers that were in season in March and on a colour scheme that consisted of mostly whites, with burgundy and latte tones along with leafy grey folliage. The girls ended up putting together some incredible arrangements including a large arbor arrangement. The bridal bouquets were stunning, they were full and unstructured which was exactly what I wanted.”

The couple met for photographs before the ceremony, with their four legged friend. The bride explaining “Our fur baby Layla joined us and the bridal party for our wedding photos and ended up stealing the show. We were so happy to have her there on our big day as she is a huge part of our lives and has been there through our entire relationship.”

The couple married at Wills Domain Winery, making a last minute decision for their ceremony, Felicity telling “We originally chose another estate to be married at, and (then) to have the Wedding reception at Wills Domain Winery. However a week before the wedding we ended up changing plans and had both the wedding and the reception at Wills Domain. Judging by the way the day went we made the right decision to have both the wedding and reception at Will’s Domain. We cannot thank Sophie (the Wills Domain event coordinator) enough for being so accommodating and making it all work so seamlessly on such short notice.”

The bride walked down the aisle with both her father and her grandfather, reminiscing “We chose Waves by Dean Lewis. My grandfather walked me half way and my dad the rest of the way. My grandfather is 91 and so special to me.”

Felicity and Jake were married by Jennifer Etherington, the bride remembering “Our ceremony was set with the most incredible vineyard backdrop. The arbour was made by Jake and his best man Jarrad, which funnily enough the winery ended up buying from us after the wedding. We wanted a small intimate wedding so that we were surrounded by family and our closest friends. Guests ended up coming from the Eastern states and even Europe. It was a very intimate heart felt ceremony where we exchanged our own vows. At one point most of the guests and the bride were brought to tears, incredibly happy tears. My mum read a poem that she had written for Jake and me which was lovely.”

The couple celebrated with their guests well into the evening, including the first dance to John Legend’s “All of Me”. Felicity noting “We have so many favourite moments,  it’s hard to pick one. My dad’s questionable dance moves that would have even made Peter Garrett blush and Jake being hungover from the previous night’s antics.”

Congratulations on your marriage Felicity and Jake! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us. Thank you to Freedom Garvey-Warr for sharing today’s celebration.
