Shan and Dale
There is a beautiful Summer romance feel to this elegant city wedding. A dreamy veil takes centre stage – its lace and transparency setting the scene for a day of garden ceremony, restaurant reception and plenty of celebration. Michelle Fiona Photography was there to capture it all.
Shan tells the story of how Dale proposed. “Dale took me on a surprise picnic in the national park, he had ordered a gorgeous personalised picnic hamper from The Sydney Picnic Co, everything was gorgeous from the food selection (5 course), the bottle of Veuve, the personalised menus to our initials on the cutlery. As we sat down on our red and white checkered picnic blanket, next to the river as the sun was going down, Dale got down on one knee with my amazing cushion cut diamond and asked me to to marry him. It was perfect.”
As her “something borrowed” Shan tells, “I wore my sister’s beautiful crystal veil, so happy to have something so important as my “something borrowed” ” The veil complemented Shan’s simple, sweetheart strapless gown from Maggie Sottero beautifully.
Shan and Dale chose Clark Park, Lavender Bay for their wedding ceremony, Shan providing guests with fans for the hot March day.”We really wanted to show Sydney at its finest. Our ceremony at Clark Park has to be one of the most beautiful parks in Sydney, with a perfect back drop of Sydney Harbour, in a beautiful lush garden.”
For her walk down the aisle, Shan remembers, “Duet Love Notes performed an acoustic version of “a 1000 years” Christina Perry.”
Belinda Richardson performed the ceremony.“Our celebrant, Belinda Richardson, was just gorgeous, she really got to know us and told our story so beautifully like she had known us for years.”
“Michelle was amazing. After searching for a photographer for months, we came across some of Michelle’s beautiful wedding photos online. We wanted soft lighting, very enchanted looking photos. Michelle captured our day perfectly! She was so calm and let us do our own thing, no “posie” photos, all ‘in the moment’.”
Shan’s bridesmaids wore pale pink gowns from SHEIKE .
Shan remembers, “We had some photos in Wendy Whitely Garden, it’s so enchanted, almost like a fairy garden.”
“Michelle took us walking through the Rocks, past all the restaurants where all these lovely strangers would stop what they were doing and cheer and clap for us, it was such a memorable part of the day. It was such a relaxed, stress free day.. Everything went exactly to plan and was everything I could have dreamed of. ”
Shan and Dale chose Altitude Restaurant, Shangri-La Sydney for their wedding reception, remarking, “Our reception was in the Altitude Restaurant in Shangri-La. Everyone in Australia already knows this is a jaw dropping view of Sydney, as well as be fine dining at its best. We wanted our wedding to feel intimate, and all about the view. Altitude Restaurant was perfect.”
Shan made the place cards, invitations, seating chart and menus, noting, “Making these myself made it feel so special, knowing how much thought I put into them.”
The couple chose to keep their reception to all whites with floral centrepieces by Bon Fleur Florist and styling . Shan remarks, “Our main focus was, let the view do the talking. I wanted an elegant and soft feel. We had crystal candelabras and white Tiffany chairs from Events By Nadia. Centrepieces were a mix of textures, whites and creams with lots of greenery, keeping with the garden feel of the ceremony.”
“Our candy buffet was amazing! Created by The Candy Buffet Company, it was all whites and creams with a hint of soft pink with a gorgeous feather centre piece.”
For their first dance, Shan and Dale chose a classic! Noting, “At Last, by Etta James. This was always a song I have loved, and the words best describe exactly how we feel.” Impression DJs kept guests dancing well into the night.
