Luxury Honeymoons At The Mulia Resort Bali

Recently, I was lucky enough to be invited on a press famil at the Mulia Resort Bali. I had visited the Mulia once before for dinner on a trip to Bali with my family and so had an idea of what to expect. We all were so impressed with the resort on that occasion and were planning to go back so needless to say I was very excited and jumped at the opportunity!

The Mulia is a massive facility. It is made up of three separate styles of accomodation within the one.

First there is the Mulia Resort, a large resort catering to families, honeymooners and holiday makers alike. This is the section that I stayed in.

Next to the resort a few hundred meters down the beach is The Mulia. This section is quieter and more private but close enough to the resort to access facilities such as the gym and restaurants. The rooms are serviced by your own 24 hour butler service and you have access to the Mulia’s own private dining facilites, away from the crowds at the neighbouring resort.

The third section are the Mulia Villas. Here, you get to indulge in your own private villa with hydrotherapy pool, a 24 hour butler service and exclusive access to the Mulia Villas private dining facility the “Living Room”, which provides a la minute breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails and canapés. As with The Mulia, the villas are but a complimentary buggy ride away from the main resort where you can access all the restaurants, bars, gym and other facilities. The best of both worlds!

But back to the resort! The trip to the resort from Denpasar airport is about 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic. Upon arrival, the sheer scale of the resort and the attention to detail is unmissable. Boasting 526 rooms this resort was built in 2012 and has since earned many awards and accolades including the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award and the Conde Nast Traveler Hot List USA (2013) Best New Hotels in the World. Not bad.

I was escorted to my Royal Ocean View Suite and was immediately overwhelmed by the luxury and beauty of the accomodation. The decor is modern with an art deco twist. The bed is absolute luxury (in fact you can buy the bedding to take home with you) and the view over the Indian Ocean is such bliss you can feel yourself unwinding instantly.

The bathroom is huge and absolutely immaculate. The shower is fitted out with body jets and the toilet is one of the Japanese TOTO fully automated affairs. Believe me, you haven’t lived until you’ve answered nature’s call on one of these!

Of course, being a 5 star resort, you have access to facilites such as the gym, kids club and restaurants. The restaurants are so diverse ranging from buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner at the impressive The Cafe, Modern Chinese at the resort’s newest restaurant Table8, Japanese at Edogin to Pan Asian, all day beachside dining at Soleil. If you feel like a little treat at any time of the day, The Deli offers a wide selection of world class sweets including signature macarons, cakes, ice cream and pastries. Or for something even better, indulge in a scrumptious high tea with a choice of European or Indonesian bite sized delights. Think tiny parcels of sticky rice and traditional Balinese desserts the Indonesian high tea in my opinion is worth a try.

If after all the indulging you’re feeling a little rotund, there’s a huge variety of activities to choose from such as morning yoga, a workout at the state of the art gym, upright paddle boarding on the Indian Ocean, aquaerobics or a beautiful stroll on the beach. Or if you’re up for a spot of shopping to burn off those calories, you can organize with the resort concierge to have a driver take you to nearby Seminyak (around 45 minutes drive) or even book the driver for the day to experience Ubud or Uluwatu.

I had such an enjoyable stay at the Mulia Resort and was absolutely spoilt. This is a stunning facility which will satisfy the most discerning of travellers and would make for an unforgettable honeymoon experience. Contact the Mulia Resort for rates and packages here.
