I will be honest – I’m a tragic when it comes to skincare. Even in the lead-up to my own wedding, I was pretty much ignoring the old skin. I mean, I moisturise and take off my makeup, but other than the basics – I’m hopeless.

SO – it was a particularly exciting day when Adore Beauty Skin Centre offered to indulge my skin for a spell, and to give me some tips to pass on to our readers who are looking for a guide to skincare for brides and grooms. I was asking a whole lot of questions during my appointment, which I’m sure made for a difficult application at times. However, I did manage to get the low-down on what you should be planning before your nuptials.

The lovely Zacchary from Adore Beauty shared his hot tips and advice, whilst primping and pampering my tired skin!

1. When should brides start thinking about their skin for their big day?

Brides should definitely  start thinking about their treatments 3 to 6 months prior to the big day, with brides who suffer from skin conditions such as acne, pigmentation e.t.c looking at starting treatments 6 months prior. That way, a course of treatments and a plan can be assigned, along with home skincare and a prescription. This gives the therapist time to make changes if any problems arise. It also takes time for biological changes to occur within the skin and time for the products to take effect, with your therapist monitoring your skin for any changes. For lasting results, all advanced skin treatments should be accompanied with home product use and correct aftercare.

2. What treatments would you recommend in the lead up to their wedding day?

Different skin types will need different treatments. A gentle enzyme peel and facial or microdermabrasion is great 2 weeks before the weeding. It will create a smoother appearance helping with make up application. Brides will also notice these changes in their pictures on their special day.

3. What are your top beauty tips for the week before the wedding to ensure a healthy glow?

A good balanced diet! Do not skip product use and stay hydrated. Be careful with sampling different kinds of make-ups, as some skin can be sensitive and some make-ups can contain harsh chemicals. Try using a mineral or organic make-up with SPF to prevent any sensitivity issues.

4. What is your Number 1 favourite treatment for picture perfect skin?

Sono-infusion, microdermabrasion and a great primer and foundation.

5. Best advice for the grooms when it comes to their skin for the day?

For men, it’s best for them to come in 6 weeks prior to the day. A shorter treatment plan is best, including facials, steam and peels and a good eyebrow clean can make a huge difference. It also makes them feel special on the day too.
