There are many versions of this delicious cocktail. With a base of vodka – perhaps vanilla flavoured, Amaretto, Sour Apple Schnapps, a splash of lime juice and a splash of cranberry juice added for extra tanginess. Some may use Calvados, an apple brandy, some use apple puree, or apple schnapps which is very sweet. For an Apple Pie Martini add cinnamon schnapps. Sounds yummy!

Let’s go with soft apple green to enhance the feel of this martini. Soft flowing fabrics in a soft misty apple green, with perhaps touches of a darker green to enhance the fresh feeling. Keeping the general colour scheme to soft white or cream with varying shades of greens will look fresh and cool. Use green of all shades in your table settings – from crockery and glassware, tablecloths and flowers. Use green orchids, green kangaroo paws, grey green Australian native foliage, bright green foliage, faded hydrangea blooms in their sage and muted green glory. Enhance your setting with pewter, silver or glass, driftwood grey branches, lichen covered twigs, succulents. Because you are staying with the one colour with the neutrals of driftwood and cream, it will look interesting to mix up foliage and flower shapes and textures as well as the greens – think jade, sage, hunter green, apple green, avocado, and blue green.

Your food should continue this theme of freshness – great seafood, fresh salads, different and interesting light flavours together on the one plate, asparagus, rocket and spinach – nothing stodgy! Desserts could contain apple – sorbets, icecreams, apple gallette, or kiwi fruit, or even something refreshingly minty. A lolly bar with jars of green coloured sweets, green toffee apples, spearmint leaves, green jelly snakes, lollipops. Tins of sour apple sweets tied with a green spotted ribbon, or pearlised green boxes holding mint green iced cupcakes or green jelly frogs for a fun touch. Shoes covered in a beautiful patterned green fabric – perhaps the same as that of your bridesmaids dresses, thongs (flip flops) for your guests all in green, light coloured suits, or shirts and trousers for your groom and groomsmen.
