Nestled among the country charm of The Little Church, Skye and Connor’s summer wedding unfolded beneath soft greenery, white blooms and a whole lot of history.

Over the years, they graduated from high school together, travelled together and built a life side by side: making their wedding day a celebration not only of their marriage, but of the journey that brought them there.

With florals by Gisborne Cottage Flowers, a heartfelt ceremony led by Michelle Ann Celebrant and photographs by Molly Burmeister Photography, every part of the day was perfectly put together.

As Skye sat in her high school classroom in 2012, laughing at something her new best friend Connor said, she would have no idea who this new friend would become. “After a couple of years, our friendship grew into something more. We officially became a couple on my 16th birthday and have been together ever since. We did our debutant ball together, graduated high school side by side, and have grown up through every stage of life together,” she explained.

During their first trip to Japan together, with Mt Fuji in the background, Connor asked that life-changing question. “Completely unbeknownst to me, he had secretly carried the engagement ring with him throughout our travels, waiting for the perfect moment!”

Skye’s beautiful gown had a fitted crepe silhouette with delicate lace and beading details, illusion sleeves and a gorgeous sweetheart neckline from Luv Bridal. Her wedding party wore stunning asymmetrical satin green dresses from Six Stories, perfect for their end-of-summer wedding.

To match the summer theme, Connor wore a dark green Peter Jackson suit with dark brown leather accessories. His own wedding party wore dark green pants and ties, with matching brown accents and a white shirt.

As Skye and her mum walked down the aisle to the String version of “When I Look At You” by Miley Cyrus, she couldn’t have been happier with their venue. “The Little Church was everything we had imagined for our wedding day. Its charming country setting and beautiful chapel created the perfect backdrop for an intimate celebration, and we loved being able to share both our ceremony and reception in one special place with the people we love most.”

Connor and Skye wanted their ceremony to feel super intimate and genuine, and with the help of their celebrant, Michelle Ann Celebrant, they had exactly that. “Rather than anything overly formal, we wanted it to reflect who we are as a couple and the journey we’d shared together since meeting in high school,” Skye shared.

“The ceremony was especially emotional, as my dad had passed away just a week before our wedding. Although he couldn’t be there in person, we felt his presence throughout the day. Honouring his wish for us to continue with our wedding made the ceremony incredibly meaningful and reminded us just how precious it is to celebrate love and family. We kept the ceremony simple and personal, but writing and exchanging our own vows was one of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony, making it feel deeply personal and uniquely ours.”

Being able to focus on their loved ones, including their beloved dog Pebbles and Skye’s recently late dad, in the celebration was something really special to the couple. “It was important to honour my late dad. We included personal tributes throughout the day to ensure he remained part of our celebration, making our wedding both incredibly emotional and deeply meaningful.”

Hazel from Gisborne Cottage Flowers helped bring Skye’s vision of white blooms and fresh greenery together for this summer wedding. Skye herself had a cascading bouquet of white roses, orchids and trailing amaranthus. The buttonholes were a simple white calla lily with greenery, and their mothers wore wrist corsages with white blooms and soft greenery.

Through the lens of Molly Burmeister Photography, Skye and Connor’s day was the perfect picture of late summer in Victoria. “Molly was absolutely incredible. She made us feel so relaxed throughout the day while capturing every special moment beautifully. Her talent, attention to detail and warm nature made the whole experience effortless, and we were so grateful to receive our stunning gallery so quickly,” Skye explained.

While there were so many things that made Connor and Skye’s summer wedding so special, the thing that stood out the most was simply the celebration of their love. “Finally becoming husband and wife after years of growing together.”

Spending time together and bringing all of their favourite things and people to one place was the biggest highlight of wedding planning for Skye and Connor. “From choosing our venue and music to including our dog and finding meaningful ways to honour my dad, every decision helped create a day that felt incredibly personal.”

Their first dance was kept simple, with a beautiful traditional waltz as “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King floated through the garden air.

The advice Skye and Connor will leave you with is this: “Things might not always go exactly to plan, and that’s ok. Focus on what’s truly important: marrying your best friend! Everything else will fall into place, and the little imperfections often become the most memorable parts of the day.”
