What began over drinks at the now-closed Revvy unfolded into a celebration that felt vibrant and full of personality. Toni and Mike followed instinct at every turn, shaping a day that reflected who they are rather than what was expected.

There was colour, disco vibes, and a sense of passion woven through it all, from their incredible fashion to a custom backdrop built by hand with months of care. Captured by the talented Mrs White Photos, we’re excited to share this one with you, Dotties!

Mike and Toni met on Tinder and had their first date at the now closed-down Reverence Hotel (the Revvy) in Footscray. And while the pub has closed down – they’re entering the next phase of their ever-growing relationship!

Toni proposed to Mike while they were on holiday in Trinity Beach, in beautiful sunny Cairns, in early 2023.

Their whole disco celebration took place at Welcome to Thornbury in the Greenhouse space, perfect for their fun vibe. “The staff were brilliant (special shout out to Isabelle), and the venue was gorgeous. So many compliments on the food, too! Highly recommend.”

Instead of a traditional black suit, Mike opted for something a bit more fun with this gorgeous dark blue suit embroidered with vibrant floral details from Perte d’ego. Paired with a light blue western-style shirt with matching flower details, and lots of statement jewellery to bring the whole look together.

Matching the elevated vibe, Toni wore an ivory satin top and pants from Catherine Deane with an incredible custom pink veil from Madison Chamberlain!

As they didn’t have a wedding party, Toni’s son was the perfect addition to their unofficial party! “He wore an amazing pale pink and red suit that was based on a suit worn by his favourite musician, Tyler, The Creator,” Toni shared.

She walked down the aisle to “Fox On The Run” by Sweet. Mike shares, “A lot of the day was a blur, but the one moment I will always remember is Toni walking into the room.”

And this stunning backdrop? The brainchild of Toni, built with Mike’s talented hands! “I had the idea and he was able to make it come to life. He spent months on it, and it was absolutely perfect,” she shared.

Led by their celebrant, Peta Simpson, Mike and Toni’s ceremony was exactly how they dreamed: short, fun and cheesy in the best way possible! “We had one of our friends, Paul, who came across from Birmingham in the UK, and read a poem written by Toni. In lieu of regular vows, we recited the prologue to ‘You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth’ by Meatloaf,” Toni explained.

“Our celebrant, Peta, was amazing and went above and beyond from our very first meeting right up to the day of the wedding. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

When it came to finding their photographer, Toni was a goner the second she stumbled across Mrs White’s Instagram! “Abbie AKA Mrs White was fabulous. I had spent ages searching for a photographer who would fit our vibe, and I was sold the moment I saw her work. I think you will agree, her photos speak for themselves!”

For Toni, the advice she wants to share with other couples planning their own weddings is this: “Don’t let tradition dictate your choices and don’t be afraid to try something outside the box.”

While Toni loves the shots from her and Mike’s first dance, these incredible moments from the arcade take the cake! “I love the photo of Mike dipping me during our first dance, where you can see our guests react in the background. I also love all the photos in the arcade, especially the ones with the pinball machines. And the dance floor candid’s. There is a great one of me and Reid on the dance floor sharing ice cream too.”

The top five things that made their fun disco wedding even more special were:

“1. The people who travelled to be there. As well as Paul coming from Birmingham, we had multiple family and friends travel from interstate

2. Having one of my oldest friends, Peta, marry us. She did a spectacular job, and it was so special

3. The handmade altar backdrop by Mike. It was everything I wanted it to be.

4. Having my son, Reid, be there and have such a wonderful day, he was having an absolute ball

5. Having all of our family and friends together in the same place.”

The reception was all about their guests having fun! And the glitter bar, temporary tattoo parlour, gelato cart from Classic Gelato, audio guestbook and the surprise group dance definitely worked in their favour! “Also, the amazing Patti from Mali Bakes made the most incredible cake that nailed the brief perfectly from design to taste!”

Their first dance was to “Love Is In The Air” by John Paul Young, as Toni’s favourite movie is Strictly Ballroom. “We practised in our lounge room for months!” she explained.

Music is very important to both Mike and Toni, so their choice of DJ was carefully considered. DJ Rich was the perfect choice to bring their good vibes all night long, and with his extensive vinyl collection, there was something for everyone!

Thanks to Mrs White for capturing and sharing these moments with us, and a huge congratulations to Mike and Toni on this incredible celebration!
