Calling all green thumbs, this is the piece for you. Honeymoons can be exactly what you want them to be, whether that means strolling through some of the best gardens in the world or staying in hotels where greenery is part of the architecture. Here’s five spots that will bring a bit of green magic into your honeymoon.

The Udaya Resort and Spa, Ubud

Pillow menus pfft. At the Udaya Resort and Spa in Bali’s lush Ubud there’s a different kind of menu you get to peruse. The Kaveri Spa is famous for its flower baths. The Celebration of the Flowers is an extra special 45 minute soak, where you’ll immerse in a flower shop worth of petals. Pick your colours and the design for your bath, which is then painstakingly prepared one petal at a time. The hotel is famous for these stunning soaks, which take place in your room or in the spa.

11 Cadogan Gardens, London

The famous 11 Cadogan Gardens townhouses are the setting for The Chelsea Garden Afternoon Tea, an elegant (and edible) homage to London’s famous green spaces. The luxury hotel sits off Sloane Square, overlooking well-manicured shop fronts and the leafy parks beyond. You’ll nibble on classics like crustless cucumber sandwiches and pillowy scones, but the piece de resistance are the desserts. Think apple ‘pebble’, passionfruit opera cake and an almost too pretty to eat lemon meringue tart.

1 Hotel Central Park, New York

It might be considered one of the world’s greatest concrete jungles, but it’s also home to one of the world’s greatest parks, and a trip to the Big Apple isn’t complete without a stroll through Central Park. It can be as lush as you make it. 1 Hotel Central Park is just a stone’s throw from the park and brings the greenery to you. The luxury hotel is famous for its living façade, with more than 40,000 plants turning the hotel into its very own green space. Walk inside, and into the forest – at least that’s how it feels. From the soaring oak ceiling to the furniture, the walls, the art pieces, there’s reclaimed wood incorporated head to toe. Throw in hanging plants, potted plants, window sill garden beds – it’s like staying in a greenhouse for the night. During the day, strike out into the park to lose yourself among the American Elms, the water ponds or even the Central Park Zoo.

Ardour Milton Park Bowral, New South Wales

Next is Ardour Milton Park, Bowral. Close to home, but worlds away from the rat race, this Southern Highlands institution has had a major glow-up with an extensive renovation last year. The interiors of the grand estate now blend low key glamour with comfortable luxury (think velvet armchairs and tiled fireplaces). The same loving care has gone into ensuring the grounds are looking gorgeous. The formal gardens were laid down by the original owners the Hordern family in the early 1900s. Guests are encouraged to visit The Polo Bar’s cheese and charcuterie room, to put together a picnic lunch and head out for a stroll, or grab a trail map from the concierge for one of the marked garden walks.

PARKROYAL Collection Pickering, Singapore

If you’re a garden lover, you’ve probably heard of Garden by the Bay, Singapore’s city park that feels part garden, part natural history museum, part night light show. But have you heard of the PARKROYAL Collection Pickering? It’s certainly a sight to behold from the street, with 15,000 square metres of high-rise garden stretching from the ground to the sky. Then there’s the pool, on a cut out open air floor that’s surrounded by a 300m garden walk. It’s akin to being perched in the canopy of a rainforest, but in water, and a quiet swim here after a day of sightseeing is pure bliss.

Whether you want to soak, stroll or swim in a big city or the countryside, there’s green-inspired romance to be found all over the world.
