Charming: that’s the only word that truly encapsulates the feeling oozing from this gallery. Along the Swan River in picturesque Fremantle, Western Australia, Josh and Simon brought their nearest and dearest together to witness their nuptials. With Shosh Kruger Photography behind the lens, every moment was pure magic.
Simon and Josh met through their sisters, who are now actual sisters thanks to these lovebirds. So not only can Josh and Simon share their lives together as a married couple, but their sisters have reached a new level of closeness (in title!).
Their charming summer wedding started in the best way: a morning spent with all their friends who had travelled from the UK in a luxury Airbnb in Western Australia!
Deciding on a final outfit for the big day was no easy task for either Josh or Simon. The one thing they could agree on? The craftsmanship of an Oscar Hunt custom suit had them head over heels in love! “Classic black and white for the ceremony and then a quick change into something more suited to the dance-floor,” Simon explained.
Fremantle in warm Western Australia is a city that holds a special place in Josh and Simon’s hearts. “It also has a Rainbow made out of shipping containers, so the location at Jetty Bar and Eats on the river was a no-brainer for us!”
While they opted out of an aisle walk, Josh and Simon still rocked up to their ceremony with a bang: arriving by vintage boat as Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” blasted from the speakers. “In all the madness of the day, it was so special to spend an hour together as we travelled by boat up the river to the venue. Just us, a bottle of Veuve, and our nerves.” Simon shared.
All of the beautiful fresh florals were done by Simon’s sisters – a surprise that brought so much joy. “We saw them for the first time when we arrived at the venue, and they took our breath away.”
The amazing Donna Buchanan conducted the ceremony – and Josh and Simon couldn’t have loved her more! “We also had readings by Bob Marley and Charli XCX! – “Fall in love again and again”. We had lots of laughs, and there were definitely some happy tears.”
If there was only one piece of advice Josh and Simon could leave for couples planning their own special days, it would be this: “Take time out on the wedding day for ‘just us’ time, the day goes quickly.”
For these two, there is no photo that stands out as much as these shots of Josh and Simon in front of the rainbow sculpture! “We had a plan to escape for some carefully timed photos as the sun went down, and Shosh, our photographer, came through with the goods! She scooped us away from all our family and friends just in time to get the perfect shot.”
No photographer could have captured Josh and Simon’s wedding in all of its summery sophistication like Shosh Kruger Photography! “Shosh was amazing. We are both very camera-shy, and she worked with us to get so many great shots. But the ones that I really love are all the candid shots throughout the day. They really captured the joy and laughter that filled the day. The energy and love can be felt through the photos,” explained Simon.
Jetty Bar and Eats in Fremantle was the perfect venue for this summery wedding, and the team went above and beyond to make Simon and Josh’s day special. “So many guests mentioned how impressed they were with the staff!”
Speaking of guests, Simon went out of his way to make a gluten-free tiramisu to make sure all their guests could enjoy dessert!
Their first dance was to Moloko’s “Time Is Now”, followed by a recorded DJ set that Simon mixed to surprise Josh. The set included a mash of songs with the word “love” in the titles – how sweet!
Congratulations, Josh and Simon, on this beautiful celebration. And thanks to Shosh Kruger Photography for capturing and sharing these moments with us.
