Beneath the warm Canberra sun, Emily and Andrew’s glamorous, intimate wedding unfolded. Set against the romantic backdrop of Parlour Wine Bar, their day was steeped in classic elegance. This was a celebration focused on family and love. With every frame captured by the wonderful Stephanie from Acacia & Grace, their day can now live on in stunning detail forever.
When Emily and Andrew crossed paths in a busy cafe, they were instantly drawn to each other – and from that moment on, their lives were forever changed. Initially, Andrew wanted to propose on a beautiful walk through the winery they were visiting – however, the 40-degree heat of the day said otherwise. He instead took Emily’s hand and presented the ring under the luxurious air conditioning inside.
With the talented Steph Church Makeup and 121 Hair, Emily embodied a stunning old Hollywood glamour with her wavy hair and bold red lip. To bring her whole look together, she wore this beautiful long-sleeve gown with an open back detail and an almost tailored feel to the bodice.
For their wedding party, Emily and Andrew asked their children to stand with them at the altar. Emily’s son wore a classic black suit sans tie, and the girls all wore different variations of a beautiful baby blue colour.
Andrew rocked a classic black suit and a white shirt, both from Country Road, with his R.M. Williams.
Their flower of choice for the day was glamorous white roses, courtesy of Capital Flowers, perfect for the classic style of the day.
Parlour Wine Bar in Canberra was the perfect venue for this intimate wedding, with old glamour styling. “The surrounding gardens and architecture worked perfectly for our outdoor ceremony,” Emily shared.
She walked down the aisle with her son on her arm, with her daughter leading the pair towards Andrew. They walked as “Il Mondo” by Jimmy Fontana floated through the air.
The ceremony was personal and intimate – exactly as Emily and Andrew envisioned. “Andrew’s girls, Josie and Lucia, were the ring bearers. We had two readings, one by my cousin, written by the Dalai Lama about life and love, and the other by Andrew’s brother, called Fallen Star by Witney Hanson,” she explained.
When asked who their standout vendor was, Emily had this to say: “Steph our photographer really captured the feeling and atmosphere of our day and our celebrant (who is also a Steph) Steph Slater created a perfect ceremony.”
For Emily and Andrew, their wedding was all about celebrating their loved ones. “We really wanted our day to be a celebration and fun. It wasn’t just about us, it was about having everyone we hold dearly with us, celebrating our moment and creating lifelong memories,” they shared, leaving this piece of advice for other couples: “Enjoy the moment, don’t sweat the small stuff, always look out for each other and stand by one another.”
Stephanie from Acacia & Grace was the best photographer for Emily and Andrew – not only did she capture their day in all of its glamorous glory, but she was endlessly accommodating and full of smiles from the get-go. “She blended in but was there to direct us when needed. She captured our day perfectly, filled with so many happy faces. Steph has captured memories we can look back on and cherish forever.”
The top five things that made this glamorous wedding so so special for Emily and Andrew were;
“1. Our children being part of our day and celebrating with us.
2. Having our loved ones all together.
3. Our desserts were amazing, including the dessert Emily made. Emily made the wedding cake.
4. Seeing our parents tear up as they were so happy for us.
5. Marrying the love of our lives.”
Instead of a guestbook, Emily and Andrew had the beautiful Ottolenghi cookbook for guests to write messages and stories beside their favourite recipes. “We plan to cook all the recipes where there are messages written.”
For their first dance, Emily and Andrew chose “Even When I’m Sleeping” by Leonardo’s Bride as their song. “It was a song we both loved from years ago and described how we felt about each other.”
Congratulations, Andrew and Emily, on this glamorous, intimate wedding. And thanks to Acacia & Grace Photography for sharing these beautiful shots with us.
