Charlotte and Taylor’s wedding in Uluwatu, Bali was the kind of day dreams are made of – effortlessly romantic, full of tropical charm, and surrounded by 107 of their favourite people. With crashing waves as their soundtrack and a glowing Bali sunset as their backdrop, photographer Tom Coburn captured every stunning moment of their celebration in paradise!

When Taylor was returning home from an overseas trip in 2015, he had no clue he’d be returning to the love of his life! He would never have guessed how his life would change as he walked through the front door to his surf store that day, and saw Charlotte working in the cafe.

In what Charlotte describes as classic Taylor fashion, Taylor had decided to propose two weeks before their trip to New Zealand, without a ring in hand. “Luckily, he found a jeweller who had the ring made within the time. Taylor chose a location as far away from other people as possible, at one of the Blue Lakes, specifically Lake Pukaki in the Mt. Cook region on the South Island of New Zealand. After a romantic picnic, Taylor took a photo of me and when I turned around, he was on one knee. The answer was, of course, a yes.”

Charlotte selected an elegant, strapless gown from Hera Couture, featuring a stunning, flowy skirt. To beat the heat, she had her hair in a simple up-do done by Taymd Hair, and finished her look off with a custom pair of earrings made by her mum.

For her something blue, Charlotte had all of her bridesmaids in silky blue dresses from Billy J Boutique.

Taylor wore a sand-coloured Politix suit, paired with tan shoes, in a very relaxed, tropical wedding vibe that Charlotte had picked out.

The whole day took place at Wonderland in Uluwatu, Bali, with the stunning ocean views and tropical vibes. “Wonderland is located on the top of the cliffs of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula. Spanning over 10,000 metres, enough ground space to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one place whilst overlooking the pristine beaches of Nunggalan and Nyang-Nyang, creating such a unique ambience,” Charlotte explained.

All of their elegant florals were created by the talented team from Nata Florist. “We went for a modern aesthetic paired with a tropical vibe. We had hydrangeas, white orchids, green & pink anthuriums, white calla lilies, white bougainvillea.”

Starting the ceremony, Charlotte’s wedding party walked first, followed by the bride herself with her dad. Their celebrant, Laura Campbell from The Romantic Celebrant, guided the couple and their guests through a short and sweet ceremony. “I wanted it to be sentimental, with a bit of humour, and not too long! We had personalised vows which made it even more special.”

Bali Love worked with Charlotte to bring her elegant destination wedding dreams to life! “I’ve always wanted a big wedding, and planning the wedding was so fun for me. I designed most things, down to the smallest detail. Our personalised vows were very special. Because it was in Bali and it’s hot, we had fans for each guest waiting on the seats for the ceremony,” she shared.

“After the ceremony, our guests were offered a cold towel to cool down. I designed the florals down to each detail. I custom-made each shell name card for the table setting. Though I think just having 107 of our friends and family travel to Bali was probably the most special for sure! And everyone was in Bali, on holidays, so catching up with all our guests in the days leading up to and after was also epic!”

Like any destination wedding, Charlotte and Taylor’s favourite part of their wedding was the overwhelming gratitude they felt for all their guests who travelled to celebrate with them. “The whole day was so special. I loved the ceremony, but also just taking a pause, with Tay and taking it all in. It was so special and incredible to have 107 of our loved ones travel to Bali to celebrate our love! Exceptionally special – we were so grateful.”

Tom Coburn was the perfect photographer for Charlotte and Taylor’s destination wedding – especially since he’s a close friend of both of them! “I know him from working together at Subway when we were teenagers, and Tay knows him through surfing and the shop. We love his photography, and were so stoked when he said yes to travelling to Bali for our wedding!”

The one photo that Charlotte feels perfectly captures the love and essence of the day is this shot of her and Taylor looking back at the camera, with the cliffs and surf as the backdrop.

The five things that made this elegant destination wedding so special for Charlotte and Taylor were:

“1. Having 107 of our loved ones travel to Bali to be there and celebrate our love with us – something we will be forever grateful for!

2. Our personalised vows.

3. The speeches!

4. Having all of our favourite people in Bali together!

5. Enjoying great food, drinks and company in paradise!”

When it came to food and drinks, Toast Bali truly delivered. The catering was a standout, with an incredible spread and unlimited cocktails that kept the party vibe going strong all night long. Guests raved about the flavours, but it was the service that really blew everyone away! “The service was also incredible, I wouldn’t even be finished a drink and a waiter would already have it ready for me.”

Originally, Charlotte’s mum was going to be the one to walk her down the aisle, but due to some recent health issues, she wasn’t able to. Charlotte didn’t let that stop her from including her mum in a tradition by dedicating her bouquet to her instead of tossing it.

Their first dance was to “Dancing In The Moonlight” by Toploader, the perfect anthem to bring on their party under the stars!

Congratulations to Charlotte and Taylor on your magical destination wedding! And thanks to Tom Coburn for sharing these incredible moments with us.
