Whether it’s glimpses through the trees or the entire 180 degree panorama, there’s something about seeing the ocean that immediately switches on holiday mode when you’re on honeymoon. From our own backyard to across the world, here’s a few spots where you can soak up the ocean on honeymoon.

Pretty Beach House, NSW

Beach meets bush Pretty Beach House’s hideaway. Tucked between gum trees in the Bouddi National Park, there’s just four different pavilions clustered around the main lodge. All inclusive, with plunge pools and a common infinity pool, it’s earned its spot on the Luxury Lodges of Australia list. Settle in for a soak with a glass of Australian sparkling with sun glinting off the Central Coast sea view in the distance. Now that’s one way to bliss out.

Samphire Rottnest, WA

Wiggle your feed in the sand of Thomson Beach under white fringed umbrellas when you’re staying on site at Samphire. The five star hotel is the first of its kind on Rottnest, where the beaches have their own special cult following. In summer, forget fighting for elbow room with the rest of Perth. Instead settle in for a few days at Samphire and hop between the pool, The Beach Club on the sand and the award-winning asian restaurant, Lontara.

Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort, Mexico

If you’ve seen White Lotus, you’ve seen two famous Four Seasons resorts by the water, but this one is a little different.

Naviva is Tucked between lush (manicured) Mexican jungle and the white sand of the Pacific Ocean, there’s just 15 luxury tents, each with their own plunge pool and day beds looking straight out at the ocean. It might be tempting not to leave the tent, but you’d miss out on everything from spa treatments, tequila tasting, cooking classes, nature hikes, and even nocturnal forest bathing.

Even better, as an all-inclusive property, many of the activities are complimentary.

NIHI Sumba, Indonesia

Forget long walks on the beach, take things up a notch and head out for a sunset horse ride when you stay at NIHI Sumba. Feel the wind in your hair and the sound of hooves in your ears as you and the locals canter along the Nihuwatu Beach. Horse swims take place at low tide too. Of course, plenty of guests prefer to watch rather than ride, which you can do from the sand, or from the pool perched above the ocean.

Sumba Island is about an hour’s flight from Bali, but a world away from the bustle. At NIHI Sumba you are tucked in between jungle and ocean, in luxury villas, with access to biking, snorkeling, hiking, fishing and culture experiences, alongside the horse rides.
