Elegance flows from every aspect of Piera and Christian’s wedding, from the ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth all the way down to the heirloom tiara. To capture the stunning atmosphere of their whole event, the couple hired Tijana & Mitch Photography.

Although they met 11 years ago in high school, they say their story isn’t the ‘typical high school sweethearts’ story. Instead, they reunited years later. “We somehow always found our way back to each other,” laughed Piera.

“We went on a little holiday down south. As we were leaving the resort, we had all our bags packaged ready to head back home but he was taking so long to come to the door,” Piera recalled their engagement story. “When I went back inside to see what was taking him so long, he had opened all the windows so we could see the beautiful view of the water and he was waiting there on one knee. He also organized for our immediate family to be waiting at his mum’s house as a surprise so we could all celebrate together. I had absolutely no idea!”

All photography and cinematography was done by Tijana & Mitch Photography.

Standing out from the crowd, Christian wore a completely white suit with a contrasting black shirt underneath from InStitchu. He had his step-brother Seb and his best friends Levi and Brandon, who wore traditional black and white suits, by his side. Sadly, Christian’s nonno passed away before the wedding, so Christian wore his cufflinks to have him close on the day.

Piera’s wedding party included her brother Robert and sister Renae, her cousins Rosie and Liam and her sister-in-love Olivia. “The girls were in all-black high-neck dresses as I knew this style would look fabulous on all of them, and the boys were in all-black suits so everyone could see they were part of my bridal party.”

“The tiara I wore at the wedding ceremony was the tiara my nonna (grandmother) wore when she got married to my nonno over 50 years ago,” Piera described. “My mum also wore it on her wedding day so this was a very special heirloom to me. I would always see the tiara displayed in the cabinet at my nonnas house and couldn’t wait to wear it myself one day.”

She wore a stunning custom gown created by Steph Audino from Steph Audino Couture. “Steph was so incredible! She was able to take a single reference photo and drafted up a design from a few ideas I wanted incorporated on the dress in a matter of seconds. She helped me throughout the whole process and even came to my home the morning of the wedding to help me get into the gorgeous dress.” Piera explained.

Surrounded by the 150-year-old architecture, the couple had their ceremony at St Marys Cathedral in Perth. “This church is so gorgeous and the large glass windows brought in so much beautiful light.”

With her dad on her arm, Piera walked down the aisle to a lovely string trio provided by the church.

The ceremony was traditional and included a few readings picked out from the church.

As the rest of the wedding moved to the reception at Nedlands Yacht Club, the newlyweds had their first photoshoot as a married couple to capture their style and grace in motion.

To match the classic elegance of their event, the couple chose to have white long-stem roses as their main floral. The white rose typically represents love and loyalty, the perfect addition to any wedding.

Their reception at Nedlands Yacht Club was set up inside a marquee on the foreshore, with stunning views overlooking the river. The venue exuded elegance and style, decorated from floor to ceiling in contrasting whites and blacks.

This part of the day was planned by the amazing team over at Halo Events. “I am not very good at planning events but the amazing ladies at Halo Events made the experience so amazing. These ladies really are incredible at what they do and were able to create such an amazing reception with only a few key references. They really understood my vision for the styling and made it all look like a dream.”

To thank their guests for celebrating their day with them, Piera asked her nonno to make the bonbonniere for the wedding. “My nonno (grandfather) makes homemade Limoncello so we asked him if he would be willing to make it for us and he was over the moon. We made a day of it and it was very special to be able to have him involved. He even got a special shout-out in Christian’s speech.”

They had their first dance as a married couple to the beat of “Simple Things” by Miguel. “This song was one of the first things we picked out when we started wedding planning. We knew we didn’t want a typical love song but we both love the song and felt like the words really captured our relationship.”

Once all of the speeches were finished and the formalities were out of the way, the couple and their guests got to party and dance the night away.

When asked what their advice would be for future couples getting married, Piera had this to say. “On the wedding day, at the reception, I would advise people to take a moment with just you and your partner, sit back and watch everyone celebrating your love. The day goes by so quickly, you want to be able to take a moment and take it all in together and appreciate all the people who showed up for you both.”

Congratulations, Piera and Christian, on your stunning celebrations! And thank you again Mitch & Tijana Photography for submitting.
