Venues with a special significance are always a winner, and for Sarah and Joe, Sarah’s family farm held all the special meaning. The beautiful property (where they also became engaged, overlooking their eventual wedding spot after a hike up the hills) turned on all the country charm for a day Sarah describes as “country, colourful and glitzy”.

And that it was, with evidence through beautiful photography captured by Amanda Alessi Photography the day was indeed full of colour. Soft shades of peach pink and watermelon, handmade touches like sparkling streamers and a rustic hay-bale bar – the fresh take on country style is more than a welcome way to end the week!

As for how these two met? It all started at university, remembers Sarah “We studied the same degree together for four years and finally got together two months before graduating.”

James Kol Creative captured this beautiful film of the day unfolding.

With a Sunbody hat a nod to his country roots, Joe wore a navy suit from InStitchu made from 100% Australian merino wool.

Sarah’s elegant gown was a custom-made piece by designer Popovski. She tells “I had an idea of what I wanted and the amazing Stacey worked her magic to pull it all together in only a few months.”

The flowers, of course, hand grown! Sarah’s mum and godmother carefully tended to masses of bright blooms – including brightly toned dahlias that were used throughout the floral arrangements on the day.

“The ceremony was full of laughter and tears. We had heartfelt personal vows that s had everyone in stitches.” members Sarah of the ceremony, held under the trees. “We got married amongst an Oak grove that Sarah’s parents planted 20 years ago, the trees just happened to make the perfect aisle.”.

The newlyweds finished off their ceremony with a very special moment. “We planted an Oak tree to symbolise the beginning of a new life together as husband and wife. We planted the tree in a mixture of soils from both of our parent’s farms.”

“Amanda Alessi shot our day and we couldn’t be happier with how the images turned out. Amanda was 10/10” raves Sarah. “She was a breeze throughout the day and understood our brief – casual and fun. She captured the day as it was and we are so lucky to have so many beautiful images to remember our day.”

This was a wedding party that embraced the colourful, country vibes says Sarah. “Our wedding party nailed the brief – bold, bright and FUN! The girls all wore different dresses in shades of pink and orange. The boys wore a collection of navy suits with whimsical bow ties.”

Like the rest of the wedding, the reception was filled with colour and personal touches says Sarah. “As it was a private venue many of the details were DIY, including a handmade rustic bar, hay bale walls and the “glitzy, hang hangs” that hung over the dance floor. We loved seeing our dream day come together.”

The night was filled with just about as much love as you’d expect. “All of our parents and siblings could be there. Sarah’s brothers MC’d the night and did a hilarious Taylor Swift reenactment.”

The first dance has its own spontaneous twist. “We had a live band and the song we had originally chosen they didn’t know how to play, so we had a last minute change to and danced to “Somebody Like You” by Keith Urban, totally hilarious. We also learnt a backflip a few days out from the wedding.”

The biggest congratulations to Sarah and Joe! What a joy to be able to share your special day at Polka Dot Wedding. Thank you to you both and the incredible Amanda Alessi Photography for sharing this beauty with us.
