It’s no secret that we truly do love it when couples design their wedding day around what feels right for them. After two postponements due to COVID, Tameeka & Damian finally married in March 2022 and created an intimate ceremony while still including their nearest & dearest in their day. Captured by Matt from Stone & Wool Photography, Tameeka tells us about their relaxed wedding at Acre Boomerang Farm, and we are very here for the sunny, beautiful vibes from their wedding!

Damian paired his attire with the relaxed feeling of the day. He decided on a linen suit with brown leather boat shoes from Male Manor.

The experience of choosing a wedding dress was very relaxed and not stressful at all. My mum and I booked an appointment at Rosa & Mary’s Bridal on the Gold Coast. The wedding dress I ended up choosing was actually the first dress I tried on – I went with a white silk, fitted dress with a long veil and pearl headpiece. My bouquet floral colour scheme was white and neutral with a pop of toffee roses from The Eden Flower Shop.

Our venue – The Acre Boomerang Farm – was amazing from the get-go, the packages were all-inclusive and the process was explained thoroughly. Even with two postponements due to covid, they knew exactly how to handle the situation and made the process as smooth as possible for us. Our on-the-day coordinators were perfect and the food and drink were incredible. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue.

There was a lot of DIY at our wedding. With the help of parents and wedding party, we were able to style our reception and DIY a lot of the signage, photo boards and wedding favours.

Our ceremony was very different to a traditional ceremony, however, we played “I Got You Honey” by Ocie Elliot as I walked down the “aisle”. We decided to have an intimate ceremony with just the two of us, our celebrant Glen the Celebrant, our videographer Mark from Free Bird Wedding Films and photographer Matt from Stone & Wool Photography. Matt and Mark weren’t just our photographer and videographer they also had the important job of witnessing our wedding.

We loved our ceremony, it was intimate, relaxed and very us as a couple which is exactly what we wanted. We decided to write our own vows and were able to say these privately with all of our loved ones watching from afar.

We have so many favourite photographs. Matt was able to capture so many small moments throughout our day that may have been missed, but they ended up being moments that were so special to us. After we received our photos I emailed Matt (Stone & Wool Photography) and said photographers are such an important part of your wedding day, we absolutely loved our portraits but the candid moments captured of not only us but our guests are the photos that took us both back to the very moment reliving each of the photos.

Matt made us and our wedding party so comfortable on the day. We told him before that we all would probably be awkward with real staged photos, however, this was not the vibe on the day at all. He knew exactly how to capture some epic photos without any of that staged photo feeling.

Although I have so many favourite photographs there are two that stand out for me. One during our first dance of just Damian and I smiling at our guests. The other is actually one of the last photos that Matt took. Damian insisted we take a photo in front of his 79 series Landcruiser. I initially said “Really??” but we now have this photo framed in our house. We are both standing smiling directly at the camera, drink in hand, the formalities had finished for the evening and you can just see in the photo we are both having the absolute best night.

We decided to share our first dance with all of our guests. Some of our favourite photos were taken during it. The song we chose was “Joy of My Life” by Chris Stapleton. Sharing our first dance with all of our guests was really special to us and one of my absolute favourite moments of the night – seeing all of our loved ones including parents, and grandparents up dancing!

Everyone told us before our wedding day to enjoy every single moment because it just goes so fast. This is honestly the best advice I received and what I would pass on to any future marrieds to be.

All of our vendors were absolutely amazing – 2020 and 2021 for the wedding industry were rough but hats off to each of our vendors who still made the process of booking, and rescheduling due to COVID and the million questions an absolute breeze.

The couple’s beautiful wedding video was filmed by Free Bird Wedding Films.

Thank you to Tameeka & Damian for letting us relive their beautiful wedding with them. And to Matt from Stone & Wool for sharing their stunning images.
