Stationery is a way of giving your guests a glimpse of your wedding day. It is not a piece of paper, but rather your way of communicating with your guests before the event. Because the stationery will embody your unique style, you will also allow your loved ones to have a glimpse of the wedding theme through your suite.

If you wish to add a “New Zealand undertone” to your suite, there are many ways to achieve that, and here are some Ideas For New Zealand Inspired Wedding Stationery Suites with Riz from TimberWink Studio for the New Zealand Issue at Polka Dot Wedding.

Vineyard

When it comes to vineyards, New Zealand can provide the perfect ground for both white and red wine. The terroir is considered perfect, with so many vineyards offering an exclusive tasting menu. Not to mention the gorgeous aesthetic vineyards provide for celebrating weddings. The authentic setting and backdrops will envelop your event with beautiful allure.

For one couple who planned a vineyard wedding at Ascension Wine Estate, the goal was to create the perfect Mediterranean style. Since they met working on a superyacht and spent their first years together travelling the Mediterranean, this style meant a lot to them.

“The artwork includes a hand-painted version of their wedding venue. On the back, we added the itinerary for the day, along with some fine details. The attention to detail made the work last for more than a few hours, but the end result was incredible. The wedding invitations turned out to be a beautiful combination of vineyard flair with modern elements. They were digitally printed on a 300gsm textured card stock.”

We also added a large sign with a map of Europe, accentuating all the favourite destinations of the couple. What is even more charming, they turned each destination into a table name!

Te Anau, Fiordland

Te Anau is a town on the South Island of New Zealand, and it is a true hidden gem. It is most famous for being on your way to the entrance of Milford Sound and Fiordland National Park. Lake Te Anau hosts marvellous trout, and the town is the home to the takahe birds. They do not fly, and they are an endangered species. Furthermore, the experience deepens when visiting the Te Anau Caves. You have a chance to take a look at an underground waterfall, and witness a limestone grotto of glowworms. For those that want to fully appreciate the great outdoor features this town provides, the southwest Kepler Track is popular. It provides spectacular mountain and beech forests, as well as glacial valleys.

“This couple requested a minimal layout with navy and burgundy ink for their wedding invitations, details cards, menus, programs, and advice cards. The invitations and details cards were letterpressed on a thick off-white cotton card. As for the rest of the stationery, it was digitally printed on a 300gsm matte white card. The mix of digitally printed cards and letterpress maintained a low printing cost while still creating a striking impression. It was such a fun vibe to follow!”

Waiheke Island

Downtown Auckland is a frontier that hides plenty of beautiful places. One of them is Waiheke Island. This is the second largest island in the Hauraki Golf in New Zealand. It is about a half an hour ferry ride from downtown Auckland, and it is home to gorgeous beaches and vineyards that will surely take your breath away!

The couple that commissioned this stationery decided to get married at Mudbrick, which is a stunning wedding venue. What the couple liked most about it was the mature formal gardens, and how they complemented the stunning view of the sea. This surrounding created the perfect backdrop for their ceremony and became an inspiration for their wedding stationery.

“The couple decided to have a trifold card, beautifully accented with their wedding colours of blue and silver. It featured an image of the venue and the style was aimed toward a washout effect which was created in Photoshop. The cards were digitally printed on a 300gsm ice gold metallic stock, and came with matching metallic envelopes.”

Pohutukawa

The shade that this native New Zealand tree provides is beautiful and vast. By displaying a vibrant colour and the ability to grow even on rocky ground, Pohutukawa has become a symbol of strength and persistence. It is also known to be one of the most beautiful trees in New Zealand.

For this couple, we incorporated the Pohutukawa flowers on their wedding invitations, as per their request. Even though they were getting married in Vienna, they wanted to include something that had significance to their country.

“The artwork of the flowers was hand-painted first, then turned into digital art with the help of an illustrator we work with. The design was printed on a textured matt cardstock and it included an invite, details card, and an envelope liner. To hold the cards together, a string tie and a tag were used.”
