When we think of coastal weddings, yellow is not often added to the mix. And if today’s editorial is anything to go by, you will soon, like us, be completely flummoxed that it hasn’t been done before. Because just like every other part of The Yellow Issue, it is joy-filled, beautiful and something we’ve completely fallen in love with.
Set on the North Coast at Turners Beach in Yamba, this dream team, with Denis Banks Photography behind the camera, rose with the sun and even got the sky to cooperate with its pale yellow hues.
It was all the dream of North Coast event hire company & stylist Lauretta of Fig Tree Lane Event Hire. Inspired by our very own Yellow Issue, Lauretta wanted to show just how easy yellow is to incorporate into a coastal wedding colour palette. “We wanted to show people just how easy and beautiful it can be to add splashes of yellow hues to your event” remarks Lauretta. “By taking it to the seaside we intentionally chose the classic pairing of blue and yellow, but by adding some subtle (and not so subtle hints of lemons) we were able to create something a little bit different and fresh.”
And fresh was the vibe indeed! Lauretta working with floral designer The Green House Collective to bring together tulips, roses, poppies, and lilies with plenty of greenery and even lemons for a fresh and fun addition.
After romantic signage from Created By Deli guided the way, our scene moves to dinner. Set in the ocean, the table, and beautiful wooden chairs (so perfect for the coastal vibes) was topped with taupe linens from Kitchen To Table. With oh so coastal white and pale blue striped napkins beneath them, the handmade plates in speckle finish, an organic handmade touch, at each place setting, were handmade by The Clay Circle.
Says Lauretta “There is something pretty special about the colour yellow and all of its gorgeous varying hues. In the minds of many people, it conjures thoughts of happiness, sunshine and warmth, and recently it has been a popular addition to many wedding palettes.” Oh how we do agree! Scroll on for all the beauty.
