When it came to planning The Ceremony Issue, we wanted to give you all kinds of ceremonies. From weddings in gardens and parks to indoor celebrations. Well today, we have a completely unexpected wedding, a venue that is beyond anything you might have dreamt of – the very top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

With just twelve guests as a part of their day (thanks to border closures and COVID), these two decided to embrace their little guest list, and fill their day with all the fun they could pack in. From marrying on top of the world’s most iconic bridge to a sit-down breakfast feast, and an after-party at a favourite bar, they well and truly nailed their brief, as evidenced by every beautiful capture by the team of Across the Forest.

The couple met when they were living in the UK telling “We met ten years ago living eight hours away from each other in the UK, after dating for three years long-distance John moved to where Will lived and they moved in with each other. In 2019 we decided to quit our jobs and travel Asia and Australia as we had always dreamt of doing.” Get over your fear of heights folks and settle in, this story is so worth it!

The grooms only had boutonnieres of greenery, but “Our florist, Merchant & Green, were absolutely amazing, they did our bouquet, wedding reception flowers and boutonnieres for the grooms and guests. They completely understood what we wanted and delivered perfection! We went for a rustic and natural theme which complimented our suits.”

Will and John have this advice if you are yet to walk down the aisle. “It’s your day, do it exactly how you want to! Be different and be bold! Enjoy the process!”

Will & John had just twelve guests join them for the day, their ceremony hosted by BridgeClimb, with their ceremony led by ABC by Brad .”With our friends overseas we chose our closest Australian friends to be part of our day, totalling only 12 guests it made the day really special. We loved the wedding planning process and we miss it!”

Will and John worked with Across The Forest on their wedding photographs. “Across the Forest, our photographer really captured how special the day was. Anton was loved by all of our guests and floated around capturing images as if he was a member of the party. An absolute professional!”

Our photos are absolutely fantastic thanks to Anton we’re in love with them all. But our favourite has to be at the end of the ceremony with our guests gathered around us clapping and crying with us.”

Time for champagne! Will and John hosted a champagne reception, (complete with a delicious wedding cake with crystal detail made by Black Velvet Sydney) at Park Hyatt Sydney.

Each and every guest was gifted a personal portrait at their place setting, the grooms telling “Our very good friend Todd who owns Illustrahun created the place settings for our guests, they were perfect and allowed the guests to keep something special and personalized from their day.”

The last treat of the day? Chingalings where the couple and their guests were treated to a performance by Bettie Blackheart. They tell “Everything was perfect and we’re so grateful to all of the suppliers, however, the after-party really was the cherry on top. With a drag queen and fire dancer, it really was a party we’ll never forget.”

The biggest of congratulations to you both Will & John. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story with us and to Across the Forest for today’s beautiful images!
