Nicole and Yahn’s day was stunningly chic from start to finish, Elegant, yet modern floral arrangements by Nunu Designs setting the scene for a beautiful coastal celebration. “We wanted our wedding to be relaxed yet elegant ad by the water. ” explained Nicole “Our venue was so stunning and open as it was, so we didn’t need to do much for it to be amazing. We kept everything neutral with white, blush and copper roses with simple table settings.”

Blaise Bell Photography was behind the camera for this one, the colour palette kept neutral – white, blush, vintage orange and black, the details equally as beautifully thought out. Long-stemmed rose bouquets, classic black tuxedos, champagne a-flowing and the dance floor packed. This is a story that is going to inspire!

Nicole says the story of how she and Yahn met isn’t special (we disagree!) because these two? They have known each other for many many years before they even realised a spark was brewing! She explains “I wish there was a special story! We always knew each other through our area and friendship groups. However, our first true meeting was a classic night in Kings Cross in a club called Backroom in 2012!”

Yahn asking Nicole to marry him, aptly, by the water . “It was the night before we were leaving to go to Bali for a holiday in 2019. We had soo much to do as we had an early flight the next morning. Yahn dragged me to his grandparents home in Cronulla, which is a very special place. I found him down on the jetty by the water where he told me he was looking at the fish. I was cranky and asking him to hurry up as we had so much to do when he told me to be quiet, there’s something he needs to ask me. Down he went on his knee and the rest is history!”

Yahn and his groomsmen went classic with their looks, choosing black suits from MJ Bale. “This was left until the couple of weeks before the wedding” laughs Nicole. “We love classic styles that we hope to look back on in years to come and still be happy with the choices. The boys wore classic black suits, white shirts with black bow ties, patent black shoes and a simple floral in their buttonholes. Yahn differed his slightly with a satin lapel on his jacket.”

Nicole sparkled down the aisle, working with Leah Da Gloria on a stunning custom gown. She remembers “One of my bridesmaids works at the designer and I loved that she was so heavily involved in creating the dress! I chose this style of dress as I wanted something with a simple shape however I wanted it to be detailed and timeless! From start to finish the process was seamless and was a very enjoyable experience. Later in the night, I changed into a more comfortable, silk halter neck dress for dancing by Galvan London. I wore my mum’s diamond earrings that she lent me.”

Nicole feels nothing but gratitude for the celebration she and Yahn got to enjoy. “I just feel so grateful that we got to have our perfect day. One of my bridesmaids is living in London and another one in Townsville QLD, so having them able to be there during a pandemic was amazing and so lucky.”

Nicole and Yahn loved the coastal vibes of all in one venue of  Pasadena Sydney. “A big factor for us when choosing a venue was that we didn’t want to have to move around between ceremony and reception. We also wanted something by the water. We stumbled across Pasadena by chance and fell in love the moment we stepped foot in the door. It feels like you’re away overseas and is so peaceful and beautiful.”

The groom and groomsmen arrived at the wedding by boat (undoubtedly one of Yahn’s favourite parts of the day!)

Nicole remembers “My beautiful mum walked me down the aisle to our wonderful band singing ‘Latch’ by Disclosure in an acoustic version.”

Nicole and Yahn were married by a special friend – the mother of one of Yahn’s groomsmen, the bride explaining “One of our groomsmen’s mum was our celebrant which was so special. She had known both of us most of our lives so it was great to have her play such a special part. She kept it light-hearted with a touch of humour. We don’t take ourselves too seriously so didn’t want to make it too serious!”

Yahn and Nicole loved how relaxed their photographer Blaise made everything feel. “Our photographer Blaise was amazing. Yahn hates having his photo taken so the fact that Blaise’s style is so relaxed and not posed was perfect. He made everyone feel so relaxed and captured every moment perfectly. We couldn’t be happier with the photos. He is a local to the area of the venue so knew how and where to get the perfect shots! He also organised us our wedding album afterwards and handled the whole process – this turned out amazing as well!”

Nicole and Yahn chose Nunu Designs to style the beautiful, modern floral arrangements for their day.  “We kept the florals very simple with a pop of colour. We didn’t want too much greenery as the venue already has lots of this so we opted for lots of roses and orchids in white, blush and copper tones. Our florist Steph just took a rough idea of what I envisaged and created the most amazing arrangements!

I feel as though I didn’t have to ‘plan’ too much as I left it to all of our amazing vendors however our favourite part of the whole process was the exciting lead-up and all the special events you have beforehand with your bridal party. Such a fun time.”

The beauty of the celebration was all down to an amazing vendor dream team, says Nicole. “Everyone involved was amazing, we couldn’t fault anything. Kirra from Little Lane Events (they styled the venue) was incredible. She worked closely with our florist Steph who was also amazing in creating such a beautiful vibe. On top of this, Kirra was there to greet me as I arrived and helped us girls all get ready to go down the aisle! Such a big part of our day.”

The newlyweds slipped out of their reception for a moment alone, and this is one piece of advice Nicole happily passes on. “It’s a pretty standard piece of advice that everyone hears before their wedding. But at some point during the reception, leave for a bit with your new husband/wife, and take it all in! Look at all of your guests and the venue and just let it sink in.”

“One of our favourite details of the day was the speeches” reminisces Nicole. “They were so amazing and we are so glad we have them recorded by our amazing videographer. We watch them all the time! And the dance floor and band!”

The first dance was an utter success, in part to live band  Top Shelf Live, says Nicole. “We had our first dance to again, our wonderful band playing “Dancing In The Moonlight” by Toploader. We danced for the first little bit (very unrehearsed) and then had our wedding party and the rest of the wedding join in!”

The couple were lucky enough to have Life By Luke capture their day on film, the result a film that so beautifully tells the tale in motion.

Big, wonderful congratulations to you both Nicole and Yahn! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell your story on Polka Dot Wedding. Thank you both and to Blaise Bell Photography for sharing this story with us!
