Lighting

Lighting can definitely make a big impact on the atmosphere of your wedding!

Stringing up festoon or fairy lights across your outdoor spaces are both practical but also sheds some beautiful light across your outdoor areas to feature them. If you are having your wedding in the summer months or a cocktail-style wedding and a lot of your space will be focused outside, then we highly recommend investing in plenty of festoon or fairy lights. Some ideas include;

  • Stringing up festoons in a zigzag pattern attached to poles across the grass
  • Using curtain fairy lights as a feature wall backdrop or to section off a space
  • Fairy lights as a canopy across the roof of your reception space
  • Edison drop lights to make a big impact intertwined with florals and hanging over the wedding table
  • Spot feature areas such as hanging crystal chandeliers or hanging rattan/wicker pendants or beaded wooden chandeliers can create epic feature areas strung from the roof
  • Uplighting to cast colour across the walls or sections of the reception or to spotlight a tree or other special area
  • Neon lights with your wedded name or a fun funky saying hanging above the wedding table or above the wishing well table create a fun impact!

Tip: When using light bulbs in festoon lighting, chandeliers, drop lights, etc be sure to use warm bulbs as opposed to cool light bulbs. This will create a soft, golden glow instead of a stark, bright one.

Candles

We adore the vibe of candles flickering on the dinner tables, they always create such a pretty and magical vibe and really set the scene for your tabletop styling. Candles can also be a cost-effective way to style your wedding tables and create a gorgeous mood to dine at. It’s always good to choose a mixture of say two styles of candles when styling to create a bit of contrast, from candlesticks/taper candles, pillar candles, or tealights for a variety as part of a tablescape.

Lanterns

Lanterns with candles in them or faux candles depending on what your venue allows are a great option to create a path to the bathrooms or from one space to another, and to ensure your ‘connecting’ spaces and pathways between your wedding locations are well looked after and styled too!

Be creative when it comes to ways you use lighting at your wedding, and make sure all bases are covered in areas you will use when it becomes dark, this is definitely the key to ensuring a well-lit but equally magical wedding vibe!
