Pops of glistening gold add a touch of glamour and a lot of sophistication to your wedding style. There are so many ways you can inject gold accents to your wedding styling from metallic vessels, classy furniture, right down to gold-hued blooms. This is one wedding trend that shows no sign of slowing down and for good reason. It simply looks incredible! And we couldn’t agree more with Brooke from Victoria Whitelaw Flowers, who has kindly put together this piece about adding elements of gold to your wedding day styling to take it to the next level of luxury in “A Touch Of Luxe: Gold Elements & Floral Styling For Your Wedding Day!”

Gold Florals

You can choose to include naturally golden-yellow blooms in your floral selection such as vibrant dahlias, roses and tulips; golden Australian natives including wattle and banksia; or petite field flowers like billy buttons and goldenrod. If metallic gold is more your style, golden painted botanicals will add a whole new dimension to your floral styling. Once a floral faux pas, hand-painted flowers and leaves are now seen in the arrangements of the most stylish florists. Phalaenopsis orchids and roses look incredible sprayed gold as do large palm and monstera leaves for a touch of tropical luxe. Gold looks stunning paired with blooms in rich fuchsia and pinks and equally beautiful with crisp white florals. But don’t overdo it, just a pop of gold botanicals here and there is all you need.

Gold Vessels

Choosing to style your blooms in gold vessels is a stylishly subtle way to add a hint of metallic to your wedding day decor. You can’t go wrong with a simple brushed gold cylinder shaped vase, one of our wedding favourites and popular with our couples too. For high table centrepieces, a tall gold stand topped with cascading blooms and foliages makes for an impressive tablescape. Whichever option you choose, ensure your vessels are matching throughout the venue, from your larger feature vases to the vases on your dining tables, right down to the smaller vases on your cocktail tables and side tables.

Gold Feature Pieces

Continue the glowing theme through to your key feature pieces for added impact. Golden-hued ceremony arbours and stands decorated with stunning seasonal blooms make the perfect sophisticated backdrop to say “I do.” Style flowers on a gold arbour over the bar or create a photo backdrop using a gold mesh screen finished with beautiful blooms. Large overhead floral features look impressive finished with gold painted blooms or leaves, suspended lampshades or geometric shapes, or hanging streamers in metallic tones.

Gold lighting

Create the ultimate golden glow by styling an abundance of candlelight at your wedding. The glow of the flame alone may be enough, but you can also use golden candlesticks, candelabra or gold glass votives to really set the scene. Create a stunning canopy of warm glowing overhead lighting for your guests to dine or dance under with festoon lighting or lighting added to overhead floral designs.

Gold Furniture & Table Decor

Offset your flowers against a golden background by styling with gold furniture or on gold-toned table linen. Consider hiring gold coffee tables or cocktail tables or swapping out the venue’s house chairs for gold chairs or lounges. If the expense of furniture hire is beyond your budget, add hints of gold to your venue’s furniture with metallic cushions, table runners in shiny gold fabrics or sparkling sequins, or add to your tablescape with gold cutlery or charger plates.

The key to using gold effectively is to not overdo it and use it as an accent rather than a primary colour choice. Choose a few important places to incorporate gold into your wedding and watch your special day elevate to the ultimate in classy and modern wedding styling.
