A day by the beach is just about everyone’s idea of perfection and for Lisa and Michael, not only do they adore the beach, but they also wanted to make sure they included their favourite four-legged friend, Atlas. The result? Photographs that are relaxed, joy-filled and just the thing we all need on a weekend. So today, join us as we wander to the stunning Bombo Headland in Kiama, with photographer Translucent Photography

First though, let’s hand it over to Lisa for the story of how these two came to be. “Michael and I were introduced by a mutual friend – She went to uni with Michael, and I became friends with her years later through a family member – who said we would get along. I was not interested. We casually chatted for a few weeks and I thought he had a pretty decent sense of humour. We met up after he had come home from living it up in Europe for a few weeks. The rest was history, here we are, 4.5 years later and six weeks out from getting married!”

You get the sense that for Lisa and Michael, life is full of laughter, as evidenced by one of Lisa’s favourite stories. “I really set the scene for what our relationship was going to be like. In the first few weeks of meeting each other, we had gone to bed and all was well. Come around 1 am I sat up suddenly and demanded Michael tell me where the pizza was. Then I rolled back over before waiting for an answer. Leaving poor Michael laying there wide-eyed wondering what he had got himself into.”

“I love how fiercely independent we both are” notes Lisa. “Life is just easy when we are together. Michael radiates amazing energy that lights up everyone around him. Michael loves that I keep our family functioning and together with ease and care nothing more than his happiness.”

Michael popped the question in February 2019. Remembers the bride be  “Michael had planned a beautiful engagement in Japan while we were over there snowboarding. He had planned it for our last day, but of course, the day before I had decided to have a fall and hurt my knee pretty bad, meaning I couldn’t go to the slopes for the final day!
That night on our last night in the snow Michael let me choose where to go for dinner; I settled on a pasta restaurant because after 2.5 weeks of Japanese food I just wanted something ‘normal’. I thought it was odd that he agreed, as he insists on always experiencing the culture and “we can always have our food when we go back home”. After dinner we were walking past a beautiful pub that was covered in fairy lights and all the trees had fairy lights wrapped around, it was lightly snowing (to set the scene), Michael pulls out a ring and turns to me. Totally oblivious I look at the ring and said “yeah that’s nice” and kept walking, leaving Michael pretty stumped. A few seconds later, after Michael clarifying his position and me coming to the realisation of what had happened, cue the tears and the blubbering mess. Then headed back to the hotel to celebrate with the other holiday goers who were waiting back there as they had been filled in before us going to dinner.”
