If 2020 is the time for nothing else, it’s the time for dreaming, and today’s editorial was an idea that photographer Jennifer Burch Photography (who also coordinated today’s session!) had dreamt of bringing to life.

Collaborating with stylist Madden & Co Events, Jennifer pulled together an inspiration shoot that spoke of beach romance, but that was entirely inspired by Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ and character Ariel’s own unresolved love story. Jennifer sharing “This shoot was put together about one of its smaller characters ‘Ariel’. Ariel is a spirit held captive by an angry man, a siren who is capable of creating magical events such as the large storm or ‘Tempest’ at the start of the play, but the shoot centres around an interpreted backstory of a character who waits for her love to notice her. She waits for her love to abandon his desire to sink ships and instead to love her for eternity on her island.”

Our “bride”, dressed in an utterly romantic gown from Lily Grace Bridal, just the ticket for barefoot, beach festivities. Her long mermaid style curls styled by Alicia’s Personal Hair Design topped with a floral hairpiece from Her Hair Floral. JM Makeup added the finishing touch with deep red lips. She sparkled through the dusk, with jewels designed by Monty Adams.

An intimate dinner, set on the beach sat awaiting the celebration. Dusky pink fabric draped and taper candles burning and flickering in the windswept night. Jennifer noting “The idea was that the romantic dinner had been magically placed on the sand. We wanted the table to appear to be placed magically in a remote place as only a fairy could create it.”

The blooms were kept simple, but dramatic. A Wild Romance styling up an oversize bouquet and dreamy garland for the table with just gypsophila. The whisper-light flowers just the right touch for this almost ethereal look.

And the signs? They guided the way. BB Collective using quotes from the play, to create modern acrylic pieces that read ‘We are such stuff as dreams are made of and our little life is rounded with a sleep.’ and ‘Now I will believe that there are unicorns.’
