If there ever was a wedding that summed up all the beauty of The Vintage Issue then Danielle & Patrick’s utterly romantic vintage wedding at t stunning Somerley House is it.

Because this is a wedding that combines beautiful vintage styling (just check out Danielle’s vintage wedding gown) with beautiful, dreamy blooms, plenty of candlelight and so. much. love. This is what a vintage lover’s dreams are made of! Every stunning moment captured beautifully by Lilli Kad Photography.

Introduced by a friend at a 21st birthday party, Patrick popped the big question while the couple were holidaying in Tasmania. Danielle fills us in “We were on holidays in Tasmania overlooking Dove Lake at Cradle Mountain. I turned around and he was on one knee and asked me to marry him, we both cried it was so beautiful. My engagement ring is 100 years old and Patrick purchased it from an antique jewellery store in Blackheath.”

The bride found her (divine) vintage wedding gown at Forever Vintage. Danielle noting “I have always loved anything vintage/antique so for me, it was so important to have a vintage wedding dress. I purchased all of my accessories and dress from Forever Vintage. My dress was an original Cahill of Beverly Hills gown from 1950, my fur stole was from 1930 and is Arctic fox fur, and my earrings are from 1940. My shoes were the only new aspect of my look, they were from Bella Belle.”

Patrick and Danielle met before their ceremony for an intimate first look.

The photographer Danielle and Patrick chose impressed them no end, the bride explaining “Kerstin from Lilli Kad Photography was incredible, our wedding wouldn’t have been the same without her. We have walked away with the most incredible photos, her creativity and attention to detail are astounding. We did an engagement photoshoot with her and that was when we knew we wouldn’t have anyone else photograph our special day”

Country estate Somerley House was chosen for Danielle and Patrick’s ceremony and reception, Danielle telling “We had a single venue for the ceremony and reception. Somerleys was absolutely perfect for our day, the venue provided the classic backdrop to our wedding. The grounds were stunning and we utilised the barn, as well as the garden room for our reception.”

Danielle walked down the aisle to Bach’s “Sheep may safely graze.”

The couple chose a simple ceremony in the garden. Danielle telling “We kept our ceremony very short, we were both so emotional we kept crying while reading our vows. In our vows, we highlighted the love and acceptance we have for each other, as well as our strong friendship.”

In advising couple’s yet to walk down the aisle, Danielle says “Always listen to your partner’s opinion and communicate. So often problems arise out of miscommunication, just try to listen as best you can.”

“My stand out memory was taking photos with our amazing photographer Kerstin from Lilli Kad Photography” says Danielle. ” We spent hours walking/driving all over the property taking so many amazing and creative photos and we had so much fun and a lot of laughs.”

The groom donned his grandfather’s watch. “Pop died about two years before the wedding and he was like a father to Patrick. When pop died he left his watch to Patrick, when planning Patrick’s outfit we both knew he would be wearing it on our special day.”

Gallivant Events catered the big day, beginning with an amazing grazing table during cocktail hour.

The floral details, arranged by Botanica Style Co were absolutely breathtaking. “We wanted lots of soft pastel tones throughout our flowers focusing on soft blues, pinks, mauves, and of course white. Roses are my all-time favourite flower so they were used heavily throughout.”

Although Danielle and Mark chose Cupcakes in Camden to make their wedding cake, Danielle’s father added his own special touch to the day,  Danielle explaining “My dad made a traditional fruit cake as a second small cake. My dad makes an amazing fruit cake and I thought it would be so nice to include that in the wedding. Dad made the cake and we gave it to Nicci from Cupcakes in Camden who decorated it for us as well as making our wedding cake. We even had an original cake topper bride and groom from 1940.”

Winter weddings do have their downfall, admits the bride. “We drove down to the bottom of the driveway to take photos and it was about 5 degrees outside with gale-force winds. Everyone was all rugged up and I was freezing in my wedding dress and we were all running in and out of the car taking photos and seeking warmth in front of the heater. Even though it was freezing it was honestly hilarious and made for a great memory.”

Danielle remembers of the couple’s dance floor debut. “We both wanted our first dance to be to something not so cliche. We chose to share our first dance to Angus and Julia Stone’s “Wherever you are”. This song is so sweet and the lyrics do really encompass how we feel about each other.”
