Jenna & Riley
Dreamy and romantic, today’s wedding is a modern country celebration filled with love! With sleek and chic details on reception tables, simple foliage bouquets for the bridesmaids and homegrown succulents as favours, the whole shebang is utterly magical! Jackson Grant captured it all.
Growing up together, Jenna and Riley also attended the same school. The bride shares, ”I remember sitting next to him in class. The teacher had sat us together and said, ‘I can’t separate true love!’ I was so embarrassed. We were just friends! In that same class, on that same day, I remember the sun came through the window and hit him directly on the side of his gorgeous face. His bright smile went from ear to ear as he looked at me. I felt my tummy fill with butterflies.” The school sweethearts made it official one stormy evening, with Jenna sharing, ”Riley proposed to me in the backyard of our home together. He had set up fairy lights and lanterns and hung a huge hand-painted sign with the words ‘Will You Marry Me?’ I arrived home from work and could see the lights in the backyard. When I opened our gate I was shaking. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I’ve had eyes for him since we were 15 and will always be grateful to have him in my life.”
Wearing a beautifully detailed lace gown from Made With Love, the bride found her dream dress online. She tells, ”I first saw ‘Willow’ when I was in on Instagram. She was on a girl in a paddock with cows in the background. It reminded me of home and my Nonno’s old farm. I saw the split in the leg and thought ‘she has a sexy, modern, hidden surprise about her too, and I like that!’ She was the first one I tried on in store, and nothing compared after that first encounter! I felt beautiful all day, she floated around me, she held me and she made me a bride.” The groom wore a classic black tailored suit with white shirt, black buttons and black bow tie.
The small country church held all of Jenna and Riley’s guests as the bridal party arrived in style. The bride shares of the ceremony, ”I just wanted it to be full of love, yet traditional, in the little family country church in Whorouly. My dad and I were blubbering messes coming down the aisle to ‘You Are Mine’ by Spencer Combs ft. Holley Maher.”
While the bride carried a trailing bouquet of white and green from Beechworth Floral Designs, the bridesmaids carried simple foliage bouquets with hellebore, poppy pods and hypericum berries. Jenna shares, ”My bouquet was an asymmetrical piece of magic featuring a huge king protea and white peonies with hanging greenery. Riley wore a white rose and we chose a mixture of simple greenery for the bridesmaid’s bouquets and had the groomsmen’s buttonholes to match this.”
Photographer Jackson Grant captured the intricate details of the day. The bride remembers, ”I had been eyeing him off for years and always knew he was who I wanted to take our wedding photos, even before we were engaged! When he first entered the hairdresser’s, he came in dancing. I’ll never forget the excitement that followed after that. He set a tone of nothing but fun and love and told our special story through his photos. His creative talent is second to none.”
Planning the reception began with a rustic and country theme, however, it soon merged into something a little different. Jenna tells, ”As we began planning, the style turned into a classic yet modern theme with lots of greenery on the tables and quirky features like our neon sign that read ‘Better Together’. I read somewhere that you MUST choose three priorities on which to focus your big day (and the majority of the budget). We love good food and wine, so choosing a venue with exceptional wining and dining was our number one, and Lindenwarrah at Milawa provided a beautiful venue in country Victoria in which to hold our special day.”
Getting her hands dirty with a little wedding DIY, the bride grew all the succulents for guest favours. She shares, ”I purchased some personalised stickers and they looked beautiful. The perfect keepsake for our guests! Upon our announcement as Mr and Mrs, George Ezra’s ‘Paradise’ played and we pulled all the guests onto the dance floor to kick start our party! Later on, our first official dance was to Tom Odell’s ‘Grow Old With Me.’ We had Luke Dewing play the music at our wedding. He and his wife are truckloads of incredible talent and had our guests up dancing all night!”
Remembering highlights of the day, Jenna says, ”Oh there are too many! The whole day was just the best. I loved walking down the aisle with my dad. I loved our first kiss as husband and wife. I remember holding onto Riley so tight! I loved the photo shoot with our bridal party and then I loved the first dance with all of our guests. It was such a happy day celebrating love and life too!”
Not only did the Jackson Grant team capture the stills of the day, but this film of the day? Also their handiwork!
Thank you so much to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing your dreamy day, and congratulations! Thank you also to Jackson Grant for your beautiful images!
