In twelve years of writing about weddings, we’ve shared our fair share of rustic wedding inspiration. But rarely have we come across inspiration that combines unusual colour, modern details and amazing blooms in a rustic setting. Today, that changes.
On a quintessential 100-year-old Australian property, Logwoods Homestead was where a dream team pulled together an editorial that spoke of tradition with a fresh approach.
Shae Estella Photo took to the setting with her camera, Cat of Woods & Bloom styled up a beautiful recycled timber table and white metal chairs as the focal points set against a raw concrete floor, timber and corrugated iron. The table was adorned by Cat with lush white blooms and green foliage. While traditional, it was the teal taper candles and glassware, the gold dotted plates and the chocolate brown linens that really lifted this look from classic to modern. A finishing touch of place cards and letterpress stationery, designed by The Line Letterpress, marrying the sense of old and new. “We wanted to create some inspiration that had some traditional aspects but with a fresh approach,” explains Cat of the design. “I wanted to give a twist to how people perceive white and green florals.”
Our bride Amanda and groom Josh complemented the classic-meets-modern look; our bride dressed in gowns from Wolff and Bone wearing a loosely swept updo styled by Sass and Niki with a glowing makeup look by Tasleema Nigh Make Up.
And where there is a wedding, there is cake; a trio of decadent delights designed by Sweet P Cakes and Cookies. Crisp white cakes were topped with creamy blooms alongside the masterpiece, a tall three-tier cake adorned with its own turquoise layer.
If you love the ideas of a historic barn for your wedding, but you’re unsure how to create a look that’s modern without it looking out of place, then steal these beautiful ideas away!
