Sophie & Storm
Set on a stunning private property in the Australian countryside, Sophie and Storm put together a rustic and joyous day! Filled with personal touches and gorgeous DIY detail, the floral bridesmaids dresses and native flower bouquets added texture to the sunshine filled day. Lovelenscapes captured every beautiful moment.
The bride and groom met at a BBQ a year previous to dating. Sophie remembers, ”It took a while for things to progress as the groom is a twin and I couldn’t exactly figure out who was who. One of the twins already had a girlfriend, so trying to flirt with the right twin was hard until I learnt how to tell them apart.”
Remembering wedding dress shopping as her favourite part of wedding planning, the bride chose the gorgeous ‘Willow’ gown by Made With Love Bridal. Sophie tells, ”I was drawn to the flattering lace top and full skirt. Trying on dresses was lovely. You were the only person there, so the ladies go above and beyond to help. Their studio is beautiful and practical.’ The groom and groomsmen wore suits by Ferrari Formal.
Set under the sweeping branches of an old tree and with hay bales for extra seating, the bride and groom held their ceremony outdoors in front of an arbour of native flowers. They share, ”We wanted the ceremony to be short and sweet. We had traditional vows and no readings. We just wanted to say I do and then celebrate. It turned out exactly like we wanted. We really wanted the wedding to have a sense of ownership, so we included friends and family as much as possible so they felt it was their day too.” The bride walked down the aisle to ‘Grow Old’ by Florida Georgia Line, and the couple scattered the bride’s father’s ashes up the aisle in remembrance.
With the Australian countryside setting the perfect backdrop for the day, the bride chose native blooms to continue the rustic styling. She says, ”We chose to support a small local business in Logan. The Flower Crew make gorgeous arrangements from a backyard (but professional) workshop. They have very reasonable prices and are very professional.” Remembering the amusing realities of a country wedding, Sophie shares, ”There were cows in the area of the wedding. They snuck in after the ceremony and ate the hay we were using as bench seats. Made for a good photo!”
Lovelenscapes caught all the beautiful details of the perfect day. Sophie and Storm were thrilled with their work, sharing that the photographers were, ”Perfect. Attention to detail. Awesome presence (there to get all the shots, but not overwhelming). Fun, quirky personalities. High quality performance and product. They were just so great to work with. It became a highlight! And after seeing their photos, I’m even more thankful we found them.” And of the vendors they loved working with, the newlyweds say, ”Made With Love Bridal, The Flower Crew, Superb Party Hire, Lovelenscapes and Mumma and Frankie – all easy to work with and all delivered great product.”
The owners of this private property may have a new business venture on their hands after the bride and groom styled such a beautiful wedding in their fields! Sophie shares, ”The venue was actually a gift from a complete stranger. It isn’t a venue at all, it’s just a person’s property. A friend asked if we could use it and they said yes. It was the best gift on the best day.”
Having a blank canvas to style for your own wedding is most people’s dream come true! Sophie and Storm put their creative skills to work and got busy with DIY. They tell, ”We made all the signs and giant board games. A bridesmaid did all the succulent party favours and table decorations. Mother in law did all the decorating and grazing table. Grandmother made the cake. We also bottled the beer at Monkey Tree Brewery – the beer and ginger beer were a massive hit with the guests.”
Choosing ‘Dela’ by Johnny Clegg for their first dance, the newlyweds chose it because, ”It’s an upbeat song and neither of us can make slow dancing look good. So we opted for a bit of fun. It’s also the song out of the wedding scene from George of the Jungle.” Both the bride and the groom’s father’s had passed away, and Sophie and Storm wanted to honour them on the day. They tell, ”We had the brides mother, grandmother and step-father say ‘we do’ for the giving away. We also had the groom’s father’s dancing shoes on the dance floor.”
Thank you so much to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing your beautiful day with us, and congratulations! Thank you also to Lovelenscapes for sharing your stunning photography!
