Rebecca & Calvin

Country weddings have a special kind of atmosphere, they’re filled with a certain personality, a certain vibe that the city just can’t match. For Rebecca and Calvin, the countryside of Wagga Wagga held all the magic for their wedding to unfold. With Peppermint Studios behind the camera, the pair chose a beautiful country venue, with rolling hills and a stone barn backdrop to tie the knot, amongst family, and friends. Which seems appropriate, seeing as it was family that brought these two together.

Rebecca sharing “We met through my brother David who Calv met whilst playing football together at Mulgrave Football Club in Melbourne. It was in Seaford, where the bride got her “picture perfect proposal”. “We got engaged on Seaford Beach a few months after having bought our first home there. It was perfect. On our local beach, plenty of yummy seafood, good wine and The Beatles playing, exactly how I could have imagined it.”

Rebecca fell in love early on with a gown by Grace Loves Lace and it turned out beautifully! She shares “I knew from the start I had found the perfect wedding dress. I loved it as soon as it was released by Grace Loves Lace. Once we were engaged I flew up and tried it on in the Gold Coast. Luckily I loved it, so it wasn’t a wasted trip.”

The beautiful, rustic country setting of Wagga Wagga’s Magpies Nest was chosen for the day tells the bride. “It is a beautiful rustic stone stable that has been turned into a bar and restaurant on a large property. The property if filled with vineyards and olive trees.”

Rebecca walked down the aisle, on the arm of her father to Ben Harper’s “Not Fire, Not Ice”.

Of their ceremony, the couple worked with Little Bird Celebrancy on something personal and intimate. Tells Rebecca “I wanted to keep it intimate, simple and short. We also wanted to have all of our siblings involved. We had David and Aaron in the bridal party, Calv’s sister Chelsea read out the lyrics to a Bob Dylan song and my other brother Matt and Calv’s other sister were out witnesses on our marriage certificate.”

Rebecca worked with With Love Bespoke Styling to create the bright, greenery floral arrangements, remarking “My florist Ash from Bespoke Styling was amazing! They seemed to get my vision and made it all come to life. I wanted Autumn tones and some pampas grass mixed in. So my bouquet, the arbour, the cake and table arrangements fitted this profile perfectly. As for the bridesmaids, they were full of colour already and they would have clashed. So  Ash suggested the idea of having just foliage for the girls, which was genius and worked perfectly.”

The reception was filled with personal touches. “I wanted there to be a family focus, such as having all our siblings involved.” explains Bec. “We have no grandparents anymore so we had all of there wedding photos there on the day and the favours were a donation to my aunty’s charity in India “Jacob’s Well”. My sister-in-law Emma did myself and the bridesmaid’s hair and Calv’s sister Belle made outr invites and thank you cards.” The bride’s father handmade the table numbers and greenery hoops which adorned the walls.

The newlyweds wandered through the vineyard after dinner with their photographer, of which they note “She was great! Very professional, she had a timeline and made sure that we had everything we needed to be done on the day without Calv or I having to think. We are so happy with our photos, there are so many awesome natural shots representing the happy fun feel everyone had on the day. I would highly recommend her.”

The first dance, under the night sky, remains a favourite memory for Rebecca & Calvin, who share “We danced to Randy Newman’s “Feels Like Home”. It was such a perfect moment, it was outside under the stars and festoon lighting, we had really cool vintage rugs on the dance floor and it has just started to rain very lightly which made it quite romantic.”

A big congratulations to you both Rebecca and Calvin! Thank you for sharing your special day with us! Thank you to Peppermint Studios for sharing today’s imagery!
