Nella & Enzo

“Our wedding was really small and intimate” tells today’s bride Nella. In an age where sometimes grand and over the top can carry us away, it’s refreshing to return to a story of something more intimate, quieter, that is all about the story. For Nella and Enzo, it was all about a small guest list and a brilliant party. “There were 33 guests and us. Our most immediate family members, our children & closest friends. We wanted it to feel special both for us and for everyone who attended.” With Georgia Verrells behind the camera (because a golden dress such as today’s needs to be shared!) the story of Nella and Enzo and their intimate wedding of urban glam is a super special story to share today.

It was an utterly romantic end to a story that began with an utterly romantic proposal that led the groom to ask the question in the couple’s home. Nella fills us in. “The proposal was divine! And very romantic tinged with a touch of humour. He disappeared from work (we work together) for a couple of hours and no-one knew where he was. Then he came back to work to get me so we could drive home together. When we got home he told me to ‘wait’ in the corridor whilst he went into our apartment. He yelled out…a couple of minutes later ” you can come in now” ….and there it was! He had laid out a pathway of red rose petals from the front door to the lounge linked to “Marry Me” written in rose petals on the floor all whilst he knelt at the end of the path holding more red roses in one hand (picture The Statue of Liberty) and the ring box with a huge smile on his face.”

Nella worked with designer Angela Manno on her stunning vintage inspired gown. She tells  “I designed my gown and was inspired by the roaring twenties when gowns were accented with fringes and crystal beading and art deco designs were the signatures of the era.”

The couple dressed together, the groom choosing a classic tuxedo from Hugo Boss with a velvet jacket.

The bride’s bouquet, styled by Michael Strownix gave a nod to the bride’s mother. She shares “I had red roses in my bouquet and my father’s boutonniere to remember my beautiful mother who is no longer with us. They were her favourite flowers. I know she was looking down on us that day.” The bride also accessorised her look with her mother’s ring.

The couple’s home, Prima Tower set the scene for the wedding, Nella telling “We got married in the building where we live, upstairs on Level 67 and the views were amazing.”

The bride walked down the aisle on the arm  of her 92-year-old father to Etta James’ “At Last”. Her daughter joined their walk.

Nella and Enzo chose Georgia Mills to marry them, noting “Our ceremony was very personal, inspired by our family and our dearest and closest friends. My favourite part of the wedding planning was that I was able to do it all myself and be close to our home yet I had faith in my caterer, florist, photographer, and celebrant. They were all so lovely and flawless in the execution of a perfect day.”

Shares the bride “Our favourite photo is one that was taken outside by the Yarra River close to our home, and it was freezing cold but somehow we didn’t really notice. We’re both looking at each other, it’s very natural and authentic. All of our photos are authentic and they are special moments that were just captured at the right moment.”

Of their photographer, Nella raves “Georgia was brilliant and such a beautiful soul. She managed to catch all the subtle and special moments perfectly.”

Michael Strownix designed tall floral centrepieces and fresh flower arrangements that adorned each place setting says Nella. “The flowers were simple but lush perfect winter colours.”

Guests gathered for a sit-down feast, with city views catered by Markus Neillson Events.
