Happy Monday Dotties! Are you ready for another big week of weddings?

With the forecast of heatwaves continuing, you can never be sure that your wedding day will be a perfect 28 degrees. So plan for the hot weather if you have a summer wedding. Include plenty of shade, appropriate attire for the groom and groomsmen and have drink stations set up – both at the ceremony and reception with a mix of non-alcoholic drinks – to help everyone cope with an extreme day. Well chosen vendors will assist you to plan. We have so many vendors with great ideas in the Polka Dot Directory who would love to help you with your wedding day. We have Cakes, we have Cinematography, we have Stationery & Paper Goods and Wedding Planners – we even have Jewellery and Entertainment!

Check out the Polka Dot Directory for wedding vendors who will love your wedding as much as you!

There is a particular quality of light in the west of Australia that reflects off the red dirt, the dense forests and the wild oceans that are W.A. Jodie of Merge Photography captures beautifully in her images, this light and the surroundings that are, for me, so quintessentially Australian. With the sunburnt, wide open spaces, the tangled forests and the elegance of Perth and surrounds, Western Australia’s brides can be assured of being spoiled for choice with the quality of work that Jodie produces; documenting your wedding with relaxed images that capture the moments of your day perfectly.

We asked Jodie of Merge Photography five questions in five minutes:

What is your favourite reward after a big working day?
Heading out for a nice long walk to a nearby park or along the river with my fiancé Justin, it’s so nice to just chat about our days and get some fresh air away from the computer screen.

Your favourite weekend getaway?
It’s a close race between my family home in Donnybrook (the South West of W.A. – where I grew up) or Albany in the Great Southern. Both places just have a sense of peace to them and lots of beautiful scenery. I try to get outdoors as much as I can when I have a weekend off.

What is your most prized possession?
My Voigtlander Bessa film camera. It’s a recent addition to my kit but it takes me back to my photography roots of studying photography at TAFE in the late 90’s and shooting weddings on film in the early 2000’s).

Favourite restaurant?
I’m actually more of a cafe kind of gal – breakfast is the best meal of the day (in my opinion). My fave cafe at the moment is a place in Northbridge (W.A.) called “Little Willys”, their coffee is amazing and I’m in love with their bacon and egg bagels!

What do you enjoy most about being in the wedding industry?
Gosh, there are so many things. Weddings are just so much fun! I love the freedom that comes with running my own business and I love the fact that wedding work is very seasonal. Although it means you get crazy busy from September to Ma,y those breaks during the winter months become all the more deserved and enriching. It’s like a reset button for me, I always come back to the next season so excited and inspired, literally itching to get my camera out and photograph a wedding.
