Romantic Glasshouse Mountains Engagement Shoot

I happen to think, that the moments when the sun sets and when it rises are the purest of the day. The start of a day, the farewell, there is an element wiping the slate clean, the way the world bathes in golden light, that makes for something truly amazing. When Fiona and Nick joined photography duo Daisy & The Duke for their romantic Glasshouse Mountains engagement shoot at sunset, well, you guessed it – magic resulted!

The group hiked up Mount Ngungun; the summit, with its spectacular heights giving a backdrop quite unlike any other – and with the couple choosing to marry in nearby Maleny, it was certainly sentimental!

Fiona and Nick fill us in on their story. “We met through a mutual friend who had been trying to set us up for years but the timing had never been right. Finally, we were both single at the same time so we finally got that date, and the rest is history!”

Fiona was a little cranky when Nick proposed, but the story was made all the better for it, the pair recall. “We were in Italy for a holiday and happened to be in Amalfi on the day Nick decided to propose. We had arranged to do a day trip to Capri which Nick assumed would be ripe with proposal locations. It was, but it would not go as Nick planned. Throughout the day, every time we found somewhere romantic, Fi kept unknowingly walking away or would take way too long taking photos and by the time the camera was put away, the area would be full of a fresh group of tourists. This happened four times so Nick eventually gave up. Once back in Amalfi that afternoon, Fi fell asleep (too many Capri spritzes) and Nick’s proposal dream was slipping away. So Nick woke up a cranky Fi and dragged her out to watch the sunset. Having seen it the last three afternoons, Fi was less than impressed with this interruption to her afternoon nap. Nick walked ahead up a set of stairs which Fi begrudgingly walked as slowly as possible, only to get to the top and see Nick on one knee. Fi promptly burst into tears, repeating ‘really?!’ several times hysterically and then forgot to actually say yes.”

On what they love about one another, the happy couple explain, “we make each other laugh; the most important thing! We are always trying to surprise each other with romantic gestures (no matter how small) and we’ve always got each other’s backs. We make a good team!”
