Erin & Ross
It was on the dance floor that Erin and Ross first locked eyes. “It must have been his great dance moves,” says Erin of how the pair came to be, tying the knot some years later in a chic Grounds of Alexandria wedding captured beautifully by All Grown Up Weddings. Luckily, the pair came full circle- dancing the night away with their favourite people after a day filled with rain, icecream and the making of magic memories.
The bride chose an elegant mermaid style gown by Watters from Fashions by Farina “After trying on what felt like 200 dresses I finally chose the Elise gown by Watters.” she tells “Originally I had imagined a blush dress with full sleeves, but ended up picking the complete opposite of what I envisioned. I really enjoyed the whole process of picking a dress; Mum and I spent quite a few weekends bridal shopping as we were both so indecisive and it was hard to choose just one dress.”
Of her walk down the aisle, Erin remembers “We chose Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles. Having had the miserable weather for the two weeks leading up to the day it was quite funny that half an hour before the ceremony the rain stopped for the next hour and we luckily didn’t have to use ‘plan b’ for wet weather. I knew I wanted both my mum and dad to walk me down the aisle as they are two very important people in my life.”
“I loved seeing it all coming together” says Erin. “I must admit that when I finally reached the end of the aisle and up the steps to marry my husband, I quickly took a look around the reception room behind us to check it all out. It was just like I had pictured it.”
Amanda Sciara officiated the ceremony, of which the bride remembers “Our ceremony was very heartfelt and romantic. We both wrote our own vows and Ross’s sister Nerida did a reading of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Dance Me to the End of Love’.”
The Grounds of Alexandria played host to the couple’s ceremony and reception, the newlyweds noting “The Grounds of Alexandria was the second venue we looked at and we knew it was the one for us. Having been there a few times for lunch we knew they were all about good food and a relaxed atmosphere. The Atrium venue had the intimate feel that we were looking for and we knew we would just need to add small touches of our own style.”
Of their photographer, the bride gushes “Anna from All Grown Up Weddings was bloody fantastic! Being shy I was so nervous about being in front of the camera but she made it super relaxed. Despite all the rain, we have some amazing photos to keep and share with our friends and family.”
“Our vision of our day was quite simple; we wanted great food, wine, and an awesome dance floor. ” says Erin. “We were very lucky with our venue, as we knew The Atrium had loads of character and a vintage/rustic feel. We knew this was the perfect setting for a fun and relaxed celebration with our close friends and family.”
“I wanted to have unstructured florals with lots of greenery, ivory. and deep red tones. The team from The Grounds Florals by Silva created exactly what I envisioned. They created lush foliage and floral garlands down the centre of each table, which looked amazing on the naked wood tables. Our bouquets were lush and fragrant and look so awesome in the photos.” says the bride of the florals created by The Grounds Florals by Silva.
Each guest took home a potted succulent wedding favor.
“Ross’s nephew (pageboy) Thomas walked up to our bridal table before Ross’s mum’s speech and grabbed the microphone and yelled out “happpppppy wedding”, the whole room burst into laughter.”
The groom chose the first dance song, Erin telling “Ross loves his music so I left the music selection up to him. Harvest Moon by Neil Young was our first dance song and it was absolutely perfect. We spent a few fun hours practicing in our living room in the weeks leading up to the wedding.” Adding “Amy and Stasi from We Play Records were awesome. They created the perfect soundtrack to our day and understood our taste from our list of songs we gave them.”
In lieu of dessert, the couple had an icecream cart deliver icecream cones to guests.
Congratulations on tying the knot Erin and Ross! Thank you fir sharing the stories of your day with Polka Dot Bride! Thank you to the crew at All Grown Up Weddings for sharing today’s beautiful celebration!
