Vicky & Cam
Living in Melbourne, Vicky and Cam could think of nothing better than escaping the cold for their Winter wedding. With plenty of good memories of the Sunshine Coast- the couple decided a destination wedding was on the cards for their modern Yandina Station wedding. Working with The Tsudons they brought their own Melbourne sophistication to the Queensland countryside for a wedding that was truly reflective of who they are.
The story of how Vicky and Cam met involves a lot of synchronicity, the bride explaining “We met firstly at university while both completing architecture degrees. Cam had been studying in Stockholm and returned to Brisbane to find that I was not only in his year at university but had also started working in the architecture office that he was going to be returning to. We became firm friends first, bonding over our recent travels (I had recently spent 3 months backpacking in Europe) and with long work days turning into long work nights doing university projects, we ended up getting together after a particularly stressful end of year submission (celebratory drinks!) – both 22 years old at the time. It wasn’t til we were 33 that we got married!”
Vicky chose a gown by Rachel Gilbert, she tells “I wore a simple Rachel Gilbert dress – the Sansa gown. I wanted something that was feminine without being overly flourished or embellished. Knowing this, I managed to skip having to try on many different dresses, knowing that most bridal designs were not going to be what I was after. I loved Rachel Gilbert’s designs for their understated style.”
Vicky and Cam were married at Yandina Station, Vicky explaining ” We chose Yandina Station after reading amazing reviews about the staff and food – overall it seemed like the perfect all in one venue. As soon as we visited the site on Christmas Eve in 2013, we knew it was the right venue for us – it honestly was the one and the only venue we even considered! It was also hugely beneficial that they were able to sort our so many items for us, from on-site accommodation for my family, the food, furniture, etc. A large tree on site was where we had the ceremony.”
For the processional, Vicky remembers “We chose Regina Spektor’s cover of the Beatles song ‘Real Love’. A beautifully simple song.”
Pastor Kerry Evans officiated the vows, Vicky noting “While Cam and I both had religious upbringings, it hasn’t been a big part of our relationship. We did, however, ask Cam’s former Pastor (who he has known since he was a young child) to marry us with a simple ceremony featuring no readings but a blessing. We had the ceremony under a large tree – the bluest of skies made it so relaxed, beautiful and simply about how far we had come as a couple.”
Of their photographers, Vicky remarks “We chose The Tsudons not only for their beautiful work but also for the fact that they seemed like people we could be friends with. They were warm, relaxed and creative and from the first meeting we knew that they were the right pick for us!”
Vicky made rocky road to gift to guests, her sister at Honeybunch Florals creating the floral arrangements for the day. “My sister Kristina really showcased her budding talents on the day by doing all of my wedding florals. She worked tirelessly to make everything so beautiful and still managed to keep her cool the entire time. I really enjoyed wedding planning (especially from afar in Melbourne). At the end of the day – it was all just a series of exciting decisions.”
“The whole day was so special to us – after living in a few different cities (Brisbane, Edinburgh, Melbourne), have traveled quite a lot during our relationship and had time apart due to work over the years, it was a day a decade in the making. Our wedding really did feel like one big reunion to celebrate US and not only the relationship we have with each other but also the varied relationships we have made with other AS a couple.”
Joceylns Provisions created not one, but twelve wedding cakes for guests to enjoy.
Congratulations on your marriage Vicky and Cam! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to The Tsudons for sharing today’s celebration.
I love this style of photography. Thank you
