Melissa & Liam
There is a serene gracefulness to Melissa and Liam’s Daylesford Sault wedding. The lavender fields setting the scene for a day that was filled with sentiment and romance and of course, a beautiful love story. Sheree Dubois was there to capture it.
Melissa and Liam met twice before cupid shot his arrow. The bride remembering “We met out at a nightclub 10 years ago and we exchanged phone numbers, however, Liam put the wrong number in his phone and as I didn’t hear from him I assumed he wasn’t interested. Three years later we happened to run into each other out at another nightclub and from that moment on we were inseparable.”
Melissa chose a long sleeve lace gown by Mariana Hardwick, telling “My dress was a Marianna Hardwick design, which was long-sleeved, backless, lace overlay with a champagne underlay and long flowing train and veil. I tried on quite a few dresses at many different stores as I wasn’t sure what style I wanted, however, as soon as I put the dress I chose on I was in love with it. I turned and looked at my Mum and we both started to cry and at that moment we both knew that it was the one.”
Melissa and Liam chose the beautiful Sault for their wedding, Melissa explains “We both had a sentimental connection to Daylesford as my husband’s mother grew up there and we had spent many wonderful times together there. After looking at the many venues Daylesford had to offer we were drawn to Sault as we loved the Chapel which overlooked the lake and it had an ambience of intimacy.”
Melissa chose Ellie Goulding’s “How Long Will I Love You” for her walk down the aisle.
Tracey Patterson officiated the ceremony, Melissa remembering “The readings we had were the verse and chorus lyrics from the song called ‘Falling’ by Tyler Ward which was the song we did our first dance to and the other was a piece selected by my Mum which was called ‘Union’ by Robert Fulghum.”
“The night before the wedding it poured rain and rained for most of the day however, when the time came to get married the sun came out which was beautiful.”
Of their photographer, Melissa remarks “I chose her for her candid photography as we didn’t want too many staged photos on the day. Sheree was very bubbly and made us feel at ease wherein we laughed a lot and made the process more fun.”
“My Mum made small postcards for all the guests to write a message on with wooden pens that she sourced online. We decorated the invitations with lace and then made tags as place cards and decorated those with the same lace.”
Guests received orchid seedlings as favors, Melissa reminiscing “The orchids were chosen as the bonbonniere as I was very close with my Pa who passed away when I was young . My Pa used to grow orchids so as I wanted his memory to be part of my special day I decided that orchids would be a nice gift to give to all the guests attending.”
Melissa notes “The day was special for my Mum and me as my Mum lost her Mum when she was young and didn’t have her Mum at her own wedding so was extra special to be able to share my special day with my Mum.”
For their first dance, Melissa remembers “We danced to ‘Falling’ by Tyler Ward. We created the dance in the living room of our brand new home one week before the wedding. It was an interesting time, to say the least considering my husband hates dancing!”
Ethan St Ellen captured a film of Melissa and Liam’s wedding day. The film captures the emotion and joy so very beautifully.
Congratulations Melissa and Liam! Thank you for sharing your day and it’s stories with us. Thank you also to Sheree Dubois for sharing today’s celebration.
